Ok, so on several occasions over the last week I've been hunting for a Pre-order Box.
Several calls to Best Buy, and calls to Gamestop along with a visit to Gamestop, they had NO Idea what I was talking about when I spoke of and asked for the Pre-order for PotBS.
Apparantly, they didn't get the memo down here in Alabama.
....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... Oh, huh? what? Oh we don't get that (potBS) until, like, the 18th or the 23rd???... she looks at the other guy in the store... He says he doesn't know.
She gazes into the computer screen (a green monochrome 15" IBM clone monitor) and says to me, "nope, we don't have that..."
So, I'm going to have to use other methods... oh wait, nevermind, I'm over it.
I was REALLY wanting that cute little Parrot, and the neat Sword, but hey, as explained to me by a society mate, it's really no big deal because so many people have them, and the Parrot takes up a Slot... WTF? So they basically made it so you can't have a Parrot on your shoulder AND use that slot for an item. You'd have to sacrafice a really good item for a stupid Bird? Yeah, that's why I'm over it. That and the Epic fail of distribution by Sony... NOW you know why everyone hates Sony, NOW you know why I was skeptical about them. Because no matter what, they always screw it up. It would be easy to blame Best Buy or Gamestop, but it's really up to Sony to say "Hey, make SURE you get this thing on the shelf!" I mean, they're only missing out on money in their pocket, and hosing FLS out of their cash-flow as well.
Personally, if I were at either company, Sony or FLS, I'd be on the phone at least once a week making sure that this game gets Released EVERYWHERE. Because in this fickle market of games these days, it's reeaally easy for someone to say, "they don't have it, oh well, I'll go play something else.." and that's exactly what people do.
But, question is, now that I'm in game, if I actually wanted to go get a Pre-Order box with a key in it, and I canceled my SOE pre-order, will I still have Access to the game?

Well good thing for you since I got one at Best Buy a week or so ago. Just opened it today and no code inside. According to the support site (which is now down) I need a V# off of the receipt which I had long since threw away.. guess I paid 10 dollars for a semi nice soundtrack..

I have gotten into the habit of pre-ordering off the SoE store now. Not sure what to answer to your question though. IIRC once the game goes live you need a key for it, so unless they have something like that in the box you get or is e-mailed to you I'm not sure.
Garden - That's why my dad taught me to never through any receipts away for 7 years. Especially with games for me. Never know when something fubares up like this.

Similar error message. This time being the ole Windows OS can always be wonky I did a complete reboot of my system just incase.

As much as I hate the "epic fail" SOE suxxors threads I have to agree. so far the distribution, whoever is doing it, is a miserable failure. Has anyone seen a retail box in Los Angeles because there isn't one between Santa Barbara and Thousand Oaks. I think that its more the fault of distributors relying on old distribution business models where theres no accountability.

Seems that most of Canada didn't get the pre-order boxes either. All of the province of Manitoba didn't get it, I even phoned Calgary, Vancouver, and Regina and they had no idea what I was talking about.
SOE or FLS should offer at least the in-game items to people in our situation who have tried everywhere nearby to get a pre-order box and distribution seems to have simply failed miserably... there's probably a warehouse of boxes somewhere that never got shipped to the retail fronts.

I'm in Winnipeg, and the EB Games in St. Vital Centre had them a couple of weeks ago when I picked up mine.
As previously reported on these forums.. most of Canada actually got the pre-order boxes before most of the US.

Shouldn't be -- the support system doesn't care whether you have an active subscription or not. What is the URL in your browser when you see that error? My suspicion is that it's in the support system, so I'll need to gather as much info as possible to figure out what's going on there.

Gardengnome, did you try clearing all your caches and cookies? Sometimes Internet Explorer hickups and won't actually refresh once it's in memory.

ktatroe I will gave a go at what Captain Morgan Valerius mentioned and it didn't work as well just FYI. I didn't get the immediat error since I had to enter in my password this time since the cookies were gone but.. sorry didn't work.
