I was sailing around pvp flagged and got attacked by what i saw was 1 guy but it turned out to be one bermuda and one Locust corvette. I tought, yeah sure ill just escape but that dident work because the bermuda was way faster than my Xebec. he managed to board me. The guy boarding me had alot less man power but the thing was he just ran around the entire boat making me or my crew unable to even reach him and i dident have time to kill all of his crew because the Locust was closing in. My failiur with killing him resulted in his friend getting close enough with his Locust and that ended in my death and loss of my ship.
So im asking if there is anything i can do to improve, are there any skills thats good for making ppl unable to move? can u do some secret jedi trick and one shot him?
Enox (the pirate who lost his Xebec) bloody french ....

Sounds like you got sunk fair and square.
There are some skills that will cut the enemies movement by half or lower
You have a pistol, useful if you have trained the skills.
You should have avoided being boarded in the first place. Keep your speed up, and nail their sails.
You could also file a bug report on it. It wouldnt be a bad idea to have a players movement reduced if they are being attacked.. THis would reflect their taking time to defend themselves and not getting a sword in the back. :)

i did shot him with pistol but 20 dmg isent a great deal of dmg every like 20sec?
and yes i tried to even starshot his sails down but he had repair kits and the skill to repair the sails as i did, but he managed to do a speedy Boarding while i was trying to destory his sails.

You should have been able to get away in a Xebec. If you turn up wind in your Xebec there isn't many if any ship that will be able to sail faster than you and you should be able to get away.

i was going up the wind and i even used to skill that makes you go faster up the wind but the baracuda still gained on me. I know what i should have had done now anyway, should go for the ship with most cannons, board him, kill him and then the small ship :p

Why on God's green earth did you go upwind? Unless you've got some kind of death-wish, upwind travel is to be avoided at all cost!

I think he meant close to the wind. I *hope* he meant close to the wind. :o
PS Bermuda can close haul as well as the Xebec so no advantage there. What he *should* have done is loaded grape shot and boarded the other guy first, and then used the Attack Target command to get his crew to follow the running captain.

No i dident go straight up the wind but i know sailing so nothing wrong in my upwind sailing path ;)
And yea like bpdlr says i should have gone for the bigger boat first and i did use Attack target command on the captain but they dident catch up with him or they started attacking his crew again :(

I think we're missing the point here. If someone is just running in circles and avoiding combat to buy time for people outside the boarding action to close in and fire, that doesn't sound very "fair and square" to me. What it does sound like is a way to trap your opponent in a state where they cannot engage and they cannot disengage, but they can be defeated from outside while trapped.
Sounds like a problem to me.
Perhaps a timer is in order, which forces every captain involved in a boarding action to actually fight or suffer a forfeit.
Now if it's a "legit" boarding fight and you happen to get popped from outside while you're still clashing swords, well, that's just tough luck.

Well yeah thats what i tought and it made me kind of angry because i had alot more crew alive than he had. But i guess you have to have some slowing attack to even have a chance if this happens.

I thought you can't outrun NPC's in a fight. I tried a few times. ;) Maybe with sprint?
Anyway, order your crew to "push" and sic them all on the guy, he should be down real fast, especially if he doesn't fight. NPC crew don't have problems with chasing stuff down like hounds.
That is, unless you *can* outrun NPC's. If so it needs to be adressed.
Anyway, this tactic is fairly common. A smaller ship closes in fast and locks the target in a boarding action (fair or unfair) so the big friend(s) can catch up and blow the target to smithereens.
If you know you are going to be caught, you can try banking at the last moment and raking their deck, you can decimate their crew that way.

I still think the "Captains" of the ships need to be forced into a duel, kinda like either Sid Meyer's pirates OR similar to the Warhammer:Mark of Chaos duel system. This is fast becoming the new tactic to do. Granted that in a 2v1 situation like that I would just use bar shot and head for the nearest exit point. But this tactic is seriously something that needs to be looked at.
Problem inherent is how do you fix it? You can really only fix it by changing the way Av-Com works. They can't make the ships invulnerable because that would just exacerbate the problem.
Somehow I don't see any real way to do this EXCEPT to make Av-Com take place on BOTH ships and encompass more then just killing the captain. Real players of this time weren't always out to kill the other side. Sometimes they were just there to steal stuff and run. Which would provide an interesting alternative to the boarding combat right now. Perhaps make ships bigger in boarding combat and more interactive.
Make the captains have an objective to acheive other then just killing the enemy captain. Steal his supplies or set a fire to his powder magazine to blow the ship up (captain can defuse if he gets there in time.) something like that. Make boarding combat more fun and involving, allow finer control over your crew...almost like an RTS I would say. I seriously thing that Warhammer's Mark of Chaos dueling/group fighting system would be a wonderful thing to use in this game...but that's just me.

they could have a penalty that makes you dazed or something if ur hit in the back?
Aslo i have looks in my skills and the onley slowing attack i can get is the last one in the talent "tree" and the other skills i have to take are usless imo.
