Ahoy there all,

I am a madman about the nelson era of sail warfare however this does extend to earlier time frames i.e. the one that POTBS is set in I have noticed that there are not many frigates considering that they were the mainstay of all navies at the time this does seem a little inbalanced I have been looking in my nelsons ship book and wondered if anyone were able to build a couple older frigates that nelson served on. My ships in mind were.

HMS Lowestoffe 32 gun frigate, 1760

Total armament 32

Main Deck 26 x 12pdrs

Quarter Deck 4 x 6pdrs

Forecastle 2 x 6pdrs

Other 12 x 1/2pdr swivels

HMS Seahorse 26 gun frigate 1748

Total Armament 26 (originally 24)

Main Deck 22 x 9pdrs

Quarter Deck 2 x 9pdrs

Forecastle 2 x 9pdrs

HMS Dolphin 1745 24 gun frigate

Total Armament 24

Lower Deck aft 2x9pdrs

Main Deck 20x9pdrs

Quarter Deck aft 2x3pdrs

Forecastle aft 2x3pdrs

I personally would have a go at making them for the game but alas I am no modeller or texturer.

what does everyone think?

regards,

Cap'n Aubrey

This kind of question is more appropriate for the Shipwright Discussion (http://www.burningsea.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=18) forum.

Moved to the correct forum :)

Unfortunately, all the ships you've posted are later than what we're looking for to add to the game. There have been a couple community projects started (Sweep-Stakes, Boston come to mind offhand), but their builders have gone missing and no one has taken up the torch.

That said, we do have quite a number of Frigates already in the game or soon to be added. Most of them are French, and several have been built by our own 3D Steering Committee member Michael O'Dwyer. LiMuBei (with assistance from the rest of the 3DSC) is also working on the Hercules (http://www.burningsea.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11413), based off of the Swedish frigate Pommern.

Plans for frigates of the appropriate era (1660-1740) are hard to come by, so if anyone does find some, feel free to post links!
