Question about entering existing PvP battles:

Specifically, I'm wondering if a Naval Officer and a Privateer are in an area under contention, and the Privateer acts as a pirate and attacks other nations' ships, will then Naval Officer then be able to join the existing battle? I mean, I can see where this might cause balance issues, but at the same time, me and my friends would like to create both Privateers and NOs and go PvP.

Otherwise, I suppose we will just limit ourselves to port battles and full pvp zones.

You have 60secs to join the battle. Any one of the same faction can join the battle up to 6. If you are grouped then you auto join if you are within 10 miles. Once The privateer enters a battle with another player anyone on the same side can join.
