I just got the game today and I'm totally against having to pay an subscription fee. I did just spend $50 for the game itself. I guess thats why I play most of my online games via XBOX360 where there is no fee to play against others.

So... you bought an MMORPG without considering the fact that you would have to pay to play? Despite the fact that the box says that you will have to pay to play?

Most PC games I have bought in the past reqired no subscription. And even on this box it doesn't say much about it being an online game. It does say it can be online but it doesn't express that the whole things is online. Again, just doesn't make sense to me to pay for a subcription to a game that I bought to play not to just sit on my computer.

Most PC games are done and complete in the box... you purchase and play - there's never any upgrades and it never gets better. MMO's are constantly changing, adapting to players, fixing and adding new features. I'd love to not have to pay, but I'm sure the game developers wouldn't enjoy working for free day by day to give you more content down the road ;)

I'm a little confused about what this has to do with 'careers.' :)

But it does say right on the front of the box that subscription fees are required. And the first line on the back of the box says "...Set sail for Massively Multiplayer Online Fun..."

haha X box 360 does cost a fee to play any game against other players it costs 50 a year. With pc gaming you have options to not pay a fee since a great many games for pc do not cost a fee, but mmo games do cost fees because of server costs and the fact that the devs are constantly produceing updates to the game in terms of bugs content and such.

Now the ps3 is free to play online maybe you should get one of those....

:yar: +2 points for Saerol...

As CutlassJack pointed out this has nothing to do with Careers...

Still the box is marked front, 30-Day Subscription included. Internet connection required. Additional subscription fees required.
and back *30 day subscription included for new accounts-Additional recurring subscription fees apply thereafter.
and it's listed under system requirements... in case you missed it.

By the way Xbox live is a fee as well...
