Sony has taken Station access offline.
They will provide an update later today (Monday).

Gotta love Sony

DRM on everything!

Customer data as plain text? Ok...

Buzzard 05-02-2011 04:00 AM

Does this mean that Sony got hacked...again?

Zozobra 05-02-2011 04:04 AM

Not hacked again, I think their investigations into the PS3 network hack has uncovered more security flaws and they're working to correct them.

Drachka 05-02-2011 04:04 AM

i think it's more of a preventive mesure, they just shut everything down in order to be safe and improve security i guess but who knows, ****in hackers...

D4NGLER 05-02-2011 04:12 AM

Sony have a lot to explain. Their approach to security seems to have been inadequate to say the least. Hackers simply shouldn't be able to get in - period. The fact they did speaks for itself.

nathcrat 05-02-2011 04:16 AM

Thanks sony every time I seem to get a free couple of hours to play you do this! First you send a email 10 days! after the PSN was hacked and shut down, now you just close this down no warning, really thanks alot...........

Buzzard 05-02-2011 04:28 AM

Quite disapointed that they didn't send out any e-mail, and still haven't. The lack of information is more annyoing than the servers going down!

Charles Courage 05-02-2011 05:01 AM

Sony is mince

ok regardless of what has and what has not happened I want a refund of my money how do I go about this?

I pay to play so if I cannot play I should not pay.

Their system is pathetic, in over 20 years of online gaming I have NEVER come across the like of this with SONY.

If people who run the game have any sense they will find another way to produce this game. I see people leaving in droves, as with the collapse in sales of their playstations. This may actually prove the deathnell for SONY and their gaming division. Unreliability = no customer base.

starleaper 05-02-2011 05:55 AM

This is ridiculous!

3 hours and cannot login?

Unannounced by anyone?
Re-posting your AH items will have to be manually sent to your inventory and back into the AH?
Lost time on 3 day Econ?

Played for almost 6 months and the downtime from log in issues is the worst part of the entire game.

Last week and now this week?

FLS needs to disband from the Sony Group!

James Hope 05-02-2011 06:28 AM

Microsoft is the way forward, boycott Sony :)

Gadde 05-02-2011 06:59 AM

it was meeee mmuuhhaaa....ok bad joke.....apart from that gatulations on bin ladin

Humblepie73 05-02-2011 07:01 AM

The sum of all downtimes really amounts to a lot.

Now i personally can't complain because i'm playing f2p now, but i can understand that people with a subscription are upset.

I think if i sum up launcher issues, disconnects, lags and other general cennectivity/log in issues i'd quit the game immediately if it was any worse than it is.

Too bad an otherwise great game suffers from such problems, pretty much all gripes i have with this game come from connectivity in some form.

dararuki 05-02-2011 07:04 AM

down times

Quite honestly the down times are not that bad. From the browser mmorpgs i have played these are simply a minor change. But then again the down times in the browser games were around 1 to 2 days out.

Lint Master 05-02-2011 07:09 AM

I guess SOE realized that the absolute best network security they could provide would be to just unplug the thing from the internet. Now they only have their internal employees to worry about security-wise. Good job SOE... sorry you can't read my congratulations on the epiphany.

James Hope 05-02-2011 07:09 AM

and this isn't a browser game.... lol

thank............you..........very............much

starleaper 05-02-2011 07:15 AM

over 4 hours now?

FLS disband from the Sony Group, they are going to get you killed.

James Hope 05-02-2011 07:22 AM

Who chooses the days in which to do these things?

It doesn't matter when the days they are chosen, but they day they do it, needs to be announced ahead of time so the information is broadcasted beforehand.

When I tried to log in earlier, it said I had an incorrect password, what the heck, do I have to go through the re-install of the game, checking my connection, trying to look hard at the keys I am pressing, looking on the forums and finding nothing, on and on for about 20 minutes before someone else posts they cannot log in either.

Ding Ding Ding, its not my comp or connection this time. Now whats wrong an hour later finally a reply that Sony is the problem.

Ding Ding Ding that excuses FLS from any fault. Oh really? How about failure to communicate with Sony in advance and failure for the correct information to show on the log-in screen.

"SOE service down temporarily" in my mind is 30 mins. 4 hours is not temporary.

Get to the bottom of it FLS and respond appropriately or your just as much at fault.

You guys do have a phone don't you?

James Hope 05-02-2011 07:38 AM

Well I always head straight to this website when something isn't working, as I usually know it has nothing to do with problems at my end lol.

Bo Chance 05-02-2011 07:46 AM

Well they removed the only real battle ship for naval officers and now they removed the game. Good job guys, maybe in another few weeks you'll have cracked it and have absolutely no customers at all.

Oh sorry you knew that already didn't you...

I did, and at the time, SOE had not announced it. It seems like Mr. Butteringers did it with the pliers in the closet (Clue).

Just because they are working on hacking issues, doesn't mean anything to me.

Come up with a plan before the line break huh? Do it methodically and with precision as to not complicate the user (payer).

IF PLAN A does not work (est time 30 mins), then go to PLAN B (30 mins). Practice it on a redundant computer and check for length of time to complete.

Then implement it live with an announcement of 1 hour downtime and a credit of a Burning Sea note because the OOmpa LOOmpa's running the show didn't know what song to sing and were found skinny dipping into the chocolate river.

Gawd, what is wrong with a service oriented company not providing good service nowdays!

It's maddening!

Dear valued SOE Customers, (Oh Rally?)

We have had to take the SOE service down temporarily (4 1/2 hours). In the course of our investigation (the A-Team in Sony is really the Z Team of a 3rd world country) into the intrusion into our (Sadly Built) systems we have discovered (Eureka) an issue that warrants (Send the Sheriff) enough concern for us to take the (Already Bad) service down effective immediately. We will provide an update later today (Monday) (of next week).

That's the exact same procedure I went through, got really worried I had a key logger or something. Annoying that we have to sit here in the dark not knowing what the hell is going on!

dararuki 05-02-2011 08:01 AM

my point is quit QQ at the developers there doing what they can.

James Hope 05-02-2011 08:01 AM

Sony are just trying to limit damage and make sure they are not still vulnerable, with good reason, i'm sure most people know what's coming SONY's way soon.

Information is key.

Lack of Information is not caring to inform.

Not caring to inform is failure to perform.

Failure to perform is getting paid for not working and requires disciplinary action.

We are the boss and they are our employees.

So you like paying for nothing in return? Hire me please.

And who will suffer from their inability to perform?

You and I.

Tis sad aye.

off topic love the vid of the day

James Hope 05-02-2011 08:13 AM

It does make me wonder what impact the legal action that is sure to be taken against them is going to have, i'm not sure how many customers SONY have exactly, but i'm guessing there are quite a few very unhappy individuals out there.

lostphoenix 05-02-2011 08:15 AM

argh! well SOE hasnt changed much since I played galaxies. I wonder if the drinking fountains at SOE headquarters squirt out crack rather than water. just a theory

Tav1776 05-02-2011 08:17 AM

why are there so many cry babies in this world? I swear.

Nothing Happens. Bottom line. Been happening for years, ever since Sony bought Jump to Lightspeed (Starwarsgalaxies Online).

Been there done that and still wondering, why does these problems still exist?

They use their laundry service to take care of SOE while the CEO's are gaming on yachts in the real Caribbean laughing at us as they Count de Monay. After all, they get paid far less than real computer programmers and security firewall companies.

James Hope 05-02-2011 08:20 AM

You need the cry babies, or the level of service you would get on the average would not be close to what it is. Those cry babies help to initiate change in business policy and what they offer customers.

If we are in game we are not on the forums.

Figure it out.

James Hope 05-02-2011 08:22 AM

Star, you do know that I was referring to SONY's recent lapse in security right? I'm pretty sure the US government will already be attempting to file charges against them for compensation.

No, I had no idea, ever since they fouled SWG, I have been avoiding SOE like the plague, but oops found out I really like POTBS.

Send a link to this US Gov't vs Sony Online problem please.

Found it http://www.reuters.com/article/indus...4B977U20081210

Does this affect their online division?

DragonFire 05-02-2011 08:25 AM

To relax all the folks out there I submit this..........
