Unless I am missing something here, I really don't get it why players keep sinking NEWBIES default ships.
I mean, the BUFF CLEARLY states : Default Ship. Default ships are restricted to PvE. They cannot attack other players, they do not receive rewards for defeating other players, and other players do not receive rewards for defeating them" More clear than this ? So, to me it seems pointless to attack and sink newbie ships because nothing comes from this. Yet, I see players still attacking them. Perhaps it is a problem of making newbie ships more visually identifiable to other players ? |

It might be, but I have my own theory.
I think it depends on the player. I got ganked in one such ship and was absolutly appaled in the way they handled themselves. Any form of communication was ignored. I tried trading, tell'ing surrendering, everything to speak to them with no reply. I never raised my sails, no point, there was 3 lvl 50's. I didn't fire any shots, and I never moved. So what did they do? Blast my sails off. Blast my crew off, board me and leave me to die. Now I never really cared about the fact they killed me. They caught me didn't they? I wasn't fast/stealthy enough. It's my fault. (Although the fact they were attacking a sgip worth nothing remains to be said). The thing that really got me was that I felt like a peice of crap, like I wasn't even human. I was just another NPC to kill for no reason. I just sat there for gods sake!, I'm not stupid enough to try and run, and give them the satisfaction of thinking I cried for my lost ship. But that was bullcrap. On the visibilty aspect. I'm all for it. ![]()

At first I imagined that players got something as reward for sinking newbie players in default ships but the Buff is rather clear, NOTHING is rewarded to them for such a kill, period. No marks of Victory, no loot, no unrest, nothing at all. Then, why waste time and ammunitions on newbie players in default ships ?? |

imho, sinking a newbie in a fallback ship is fine the first time; after that it's a bit pointless and little bit a**hattery.

There isn't much room to ship stuff in those fall back ships in the first place, but it is a valid point.

During beta some players were using newbie characters in starter ships to transport high value ship deeds and other high value items that would fit in a schooner or sloop.
Given that high level players can run low level alts it makes sense to stop and search any starter ships you find. |

Yeah, like if one had valuable cargo they would be moving it around in a default fallback all alone ion their own.....please, let's be realistic here. I was in Havana (default ship AND I am on dial-up so PvP is a no-no for me not by choice but by necessity...) and had logged off the previous day. When I log back in havana is contested meaning red zone. I have NOT come back to Havana from any Port, I had logged off in Havana. I leave port, I get attacked by this other player and get sunk. Ok, fine, it happens. I get my new fallback and right away leave Port again, only a few minutes after the previous being sunk. The SAME exact player attacks me again and this time even boards me ! He had just sunk me so I could not have any cargo whatsoever (I did not have any the first time either).. How you explain this behaviour now ? And no, the player is no newbie because he had high level and I think I even recognized him/her as a Poster in these Forums (meaning he/she reads up stuff and is informed)... |

1. Everyone assumes level 1 fallback ships are the least safe way to transport goods. 2. Therefore everyone assumes nobody would move valuable cargo in a level 1 fallback ship 3. Therefore everyone therefore leaves fallback ships alone 4. Therefore fallback ships suddenly become be the safest way to transport valuable cargo. That logical loop alone is sufficient validation for sinking level 1 fallback ships.
