I am looking for a calculator or perhaps an excel spreadsheet that can tell the breakdown in raw materials for a manufactured item.
For example, say that a player wants to craft a Defiant deed the calculator would break down all items needed to how many iron ore, how many copper ore, zinc ore, how many common logs, how many oak, teak, fir and ironwood logs and so forth. Down to the very basic raw materials needed to put together the whole thing. Is there anything out there able to do this ? Thanks. |

I'm pretty sure jvbrakel's java one does this. Also, one of the two websites (or both) have recipe break downs also.

http://www.tradersoftheburningsea.com/ is currently my favorite website to do what I think you're asking. Also http://potbs.craftershaven.net/index.php and http://www.merchantsoftheburningsea.com/Guide-Prod.html are websites that I find useful for the economic game.

I checked these web sites but they unfortunately do not provide the breakdown I was looking for. They do tell what "items" are needed to make any given ship and then what materials are needed to make those individual items but I still have to do all summatories by hand. I was hoping that there was something out there which would tell me, for example, to craft, say, a Postillionen Frigate, how many Oak logs would be needed, how much iron/copper/zinc ore, how much hemp and so forth. A breakdown down to the very basic raw materials needed for the project. If anyone knows of anything capable to providing this breakdown please post it here. Thanks. |

Those are the two websites I was referring to. There was a C# app that pulled data from an access DB but I'm not sure if it's been kept up to date.
The problem with what you are asking is that it's not simple to do. It requires quite a bit of logic to get it set up. Personally, I won't have the time to work on anything like that for another month or two. Jv's Java app is good and while I would prefer something none-Java, it works. |

I'm not sure if the java one can do it, as I haven't spent much time playing with it.

Unfortunately, this one does not work for me. I did download the current Java 6 but nonethetless, for who knows what reasons my browser always stays stuck at loading applets never actually loading them. Tried both with FireFox and IE but to no avail. No dice. |

It's possible a blockup popper is causing problems, or that your general browser security settings are too high and preventing the applet from running. Other than that, I'm not sure what would be interfering with it: I don't know enough about Java applets to troubleshoot.
![]() Edit: Wow. Yes. Apparently I did just type "blockup popper". I think I'll leave it there for posterity. Sign that it's time to go to bed...
