Default Standing Down.

We were not going to announce this to the public until after the next server victory, but it seems to be necessary to do so now.

For the next map cycle, Sturmgrenadier will not be participating in Offensive Operations. We will defend Spanish Ports, we will attempt to retake any we lose, but we will not initiate Port Captures on any port that is not originally Spanish.

I do not speak for the entire Spanish alliance in this, only SG.

It is our hope that the other nations can use this time as an opportunity to recover their economy, membership morale, and willingness to fight.

Should this stance change, I will announce it here at least 24 hours in advance.

So level, get organized, prepare yourselves for Map 4.

I believe he is saying that for map 3, SG will not be trouncing other nations. They will wait for map 4 so that we can hopefully give them a fair fight.

Aye!

That is our intent. We don't wish to have Antigua torn to shambles due to our endless push. We love the game like any other, but no game is fun without competition. We look forward to Map 4. We will not be defense-less for Map 3 though. We will protect that which is ours.

Good luck to you all... That is, if Map 3 starts Friday. Well... Good luck whenever it starts. We're just hoping for sooner, rather than later, for all involved parties.

Dangit, forgot to use the winking smiley. Cursed lack of tone through text chatting!

Besides, whoever let logic get in the way of a snarky comment?

I understand the point of this. But I'm not sure it's going to have the effect that you hope for.

Your "endless push" isn't (by itself) what is causing Brit side economy to be in shambles - It's the lopsided losses in port battles. Losing key ports along with the huge loss in ships (money to the sea bottom) along with relatively light-to-non-existent losses on the Spanish side in these PBs are what is making the British bleed.

We have some very good people who are leading our contention groups - who know how to OS/Contention Zone PvP and are good at 6v6 (or 3v3 or whatever). But I'm not sure we've produced people who are good at leading PBs. And I think that this is the edge that the Spanish currently enjoy.

I don't PvP too much so it would silly for me to attempt to say exactly what could be the problem. But I get the feeling that there is a difference in OS PvP and PB PvP. And success/ability in one doesn't necessarily translate to the other. But in uncomplicated terms, I think that Spain has developed (or found) some leaders that are good at PB while Brits are still looking for our "Lord Nelsons" (so to speak).

And whether you hold off on Map3 or not isn't really going to make much difference in the long run.

I see what you're saying, and I can tell you this. Our PB leadership was most certainly "developed." Maybe, this will happen with the 3 nations this coming map. France is becoming Combat capable, and worthy of fighting off the other nations.

Hopefully this development will reach the other nations when they're fighting with one another. And yes, PBs and OS PvP are both completely different, and both require totally different skills to be successful.

Our holding off, is to give time to allow for large ships to be built, without worrying about heavy losses from Spain. All we can do is hope the leadership gains knowledge and strength in PB Strategy. We are simply offering what we can to help out. We know that there are complaints of heavy losses vs. Spain. The way "we" can fix this, is to slow (or stop) attacking for a period of time.

We're simply trying to do our part, to help keep this game going. At least until FLS can realize some of the countless issues.

1) why is it necessary now, instead of when you planned to announce it?
2) why do you think it will make any difference that your guild doesn't attack, given that OTG has like 30 active members online at any given time, when other opposition guilds can't field 6?
3) Wouldn't it be better to just quit ganking (no 6 on 1 battles in the PVP zone), and continue to initiate port battles? A server win/loss is not the end of the world.

This reminds me of White Guilt Syndrome.

edit- Sorry, I'm not trying to start a flame war. I just feel a little left out, because I have been in a couple societies and there really aren't enough active players in the pirate nation, and I don't feel like re-rolling. I am still managing to have fun though, so that says something positive about the game. I guess what Sturmgrenadier is trying is meant well.
