Basically, 24 pirates versus 23 brits. The pirate fleet was mostly 4th rates, pirate hercs and heavy hercs, with one 3rd rate and a few heavy frigates. Unlike most superfleets, it seemed to be moving at about 25 knots, and it blobbed the back of our force when we tried to reposition. We then did reposition, and it blobbed the back of our line again, and we mostly died in the ensuing mayhem, while not being able to kill anyone.

Brits were in 4th rates and heavy frigates, and good thing too because you'd have ruined our colossal fleet with that force anyway.

24 vs 24

No Loses for Pirates.

We expected a big super fleet, but it didnt show up. We had loadsa Pirate Hercs in the Battle to try and match your fleet ( No more whine on Free ships ). But it didnt show. Instead we meet your 4th rates and a few heavy's. Nice Fight and I actually got some MoV's woohooo.

Biggest mistake was your line moving south which gave us wind in our backs. I was more than joyed to see that. After that it was the Blob Charge!

I lost 6k PCP I grinded on Bridgetown during the weekend and didn't get an invite.

From what I've heard pirates had 4 ships that were not herc refits or writ SOL. Yet this fleet moved at the speed of light over the map and outmaneuvered the light british fleet.

Honestly with the current imbalances there is no point in fighting pirates with Writ ships.

Perhaps 1.4 will save this game, but now against a dozen pirate hercs, half a dozen heavy hercs and the rest free Valiants and triumphants you took from quitting players? No way in hell we have a chance against that and no way in hell we can AFFORD bringing our writ ships against this.

Only way I think anybody is going to beat pirates is to go blob on blob and just try to outfight them. Leave your finesse and discipline at the door, just take bigger ships and go at them. Maybe 4th Rates can beat a Pherc in such a fight. Never seen them go broadside to broadside though so I don't know.
The second advantage (besides the already described 25kn that these pirate fleets move at) is the availability of +40% damage clickies every other minute, so in such a brawl two PH would use these and the Alexander would not have a broadside anymore. And of course lost too many guns to continue fighting.

I don't really see how Nationals are supposed to fight against this. Now that pretty much every pirate on roberts has a Herc refit, the game's pretty much over for us.
