Default I give up on NO solo pvp in huge ships

What the title says. No real point to this post other than to complain about trying to solo with my NO. The main reason being that I can't seem to escape unfavorable odds and/or chase down quicker ships. I'm thinking a mc raa w/pirate hunter is gonna be my best bet for soloing. Maybe the mc minerva when it comes out.

I'm just frustrated as hell, I take my NO out solo and end up sinking 90% of the time. I don't mind when its a good fight, but the ganks are driving me crazy. I suppose it would help if I didn't suck so much at pvp heh. Anywho, being able to run sometimes instead of never would at least keep me sane awhile longer.

I have my FT up to 43 and pvp seems much more fun with him. Perhaps I should stick with him for soloing and use the NO for grouping (whenever I can find people online, which is another problem).

Pirate hunter + speed skill + advanced sail focus
2 runner rigs, 2 lightweight guns, 2 racebuilt hulls
engineer 5, cross, taxman
sailmaster, sonja

That will get you only slightly slower than average.

I'd agree. The NO, in it's current state, is a support class. I'm still trying to find a ship/skills combo for the solo NO, but so far to no avail. We're either too slow or too weak...sometimes a combination of the two.

I've tried MC Raa's, VHercs, Mercys, Reasons, Minervas, and am now playing around with an MC Arcadia. About the best I can do in any given PVP situation is run like hell and hope I make the exit before those little bastard SHermes tackle me enough for their buddies to get into range. 1v1's are okay, but anything other than that it's RUUUUN for the hills!

It sucks that after all the ships, fittings, and money I've gone through testing different combos, the most fun I've had as an NO on the OS was in a Hornet Gunboat. lol.

An NO's only use atm is to bring the big guns...and most aren't b/c they're severly gimped in speed maneuverability.

I don't solo. I get alot of enjoyment out of the game, I run in a frigate pack thats usually escorted by a group of hermes/arcadias.

My ship of choice is a Capri MC. Its not the fastest thing around, but its not slow, has great armor and sail integrity and is capable of outrunning anything that can hurt it or pounding into submission anything that can catch it. an NO's crowning achievement is the port battle, on the OS, we need to roll in groups. As a solo, its not too bad if you use a frigate. Basically you can put out more damage than any other class. Use that capability wisely. You have more tanking power than any other class, use that wisely. If you are trying to fight like a rat or a privateer, your doing something wrong. NO's are nto tacklers and are not really lone wolves.

The NOs uselessness in small skirmishes wouldn't be so bad if 6vs6 with huge ships were easier to come by.

No point OS pvp as NO. Herc class ships dominate the OS vs Mercy (which requires MoV's to boot), we can't turn and get stern-hammered if we bring rates (or in general), we don't have the repairs to outlast a FT and to top it all off, way too slow to out-run anything.

Fights go:
NO gets ganked = Lose
NO gets 1v1 and makes mistake = Lose
NO gets 1v1 and opponent makes mistake = Opponent runs

Waste of time doing PvP with an NO.

I'm levelling an NO on Rack right now with solo OS PvP in mind. I'm pretty happy with the build I have set up, but it'll be awhile yet before I can test it. I think it'll do pretty well, though.

Not a chance, as those of us that have experience of OS pvp as NO can tell. To be successful as a NO, you have to be extremely good tactician, meaning you would probably be even more successful with another class.

The devs have made the NO a "stand and fight" class, but they just forgot to give them fighting abilities. Being slow as hell, there is just no way they can catch anything that doesn't want to be catched, while it's extremely hard for them to escape when they need to.

The whole concept of class balance in the game is a joke, and the state of the NO class is the biggest joke of all.

I would agree wholeheartedly that the NO is one of the slowest classes. I would also agree that it is probably the worst 1v1 class. However, I would argue this is negated by it's group strenghts. The range and accuracy buffs plus the defensive bonuses make it very strong in a group. While that may not be popular amongst the solo NO crowd, I think that is correct. The class balance in this game is no where near being done, but I think they get a bit closer each time. I know having gone through 1.4 as a pirate, that loosing abilities you have grown to love is hard, but those are the cards dealt to us.
