Default Pirates vs Pirates

How many pirates would be interested in a way to pledge themselves to an NPC pirate faction other than the Brethren? Doing so will make all pirates not of your faction attackable, as if they were on a different team.

This will have no impact on gameplay in terms of quests or NPC reputation, but it will let them fight each other on the OS, if they so choose -- for port battles, this mechanic will be set aside and all pirates will be on the same team.

There's always been something of a problem of too many dedicated PvPers all going to the pirate team. As a pirate, the result is you can spend a lot of time on the OS looking at all the other pirates, with nobody to fight. As a national, the result is it can be tough to put a toe into the red zone without being swarmed by pirates, mandating 6-man groups.

Pirate vs pirate would give Mark hunters a lot more targets to choose from and maybe thin out the swarm enough for more nationals to start hunting each other in the red as well.

I see this idea as a way to increase PvP across the board.

I would play my pirate toons if that was somehow possible.

...no. What is being said, is that I only surround myself with the elite of the POTBS. In short, all the rest of you merely serve as an npc faction played by humans, as far as I'm concerned.

pirates should never have been 1 nation anyway tbh....they shouldve either been split into 2 factions so they had someone irrelevant to raid with/against, or been the same as other nations

Massive signed, this would be hawt.

Of course, Teddro would be screwed, as every pirate would join where he isn't.

I actually like this idea.

Maybe (thinking out loud) have them tie in to rep. Have Sea Dogs be the starting faction with limited doable stuff (no war, carebear area). Then the Brethren, Men of War, and Smuggler's Union would be three mini-nations inside of the Rats. They could theoretically unite for PBs to fight off the Nats, but still kill each other the rest of the time.

Not sure if my idea would be decent or take too much to code or something, but I think its cool.

Good idea, but its been suggested and ignored enough times to indicate that it would be as hard to implement as one would think.

Default Pirates vs Pirates

Pirates did not belong to a single nation, they were hired / ordered to commit piracy for their nation, i.e. to harass the efforts of another nation for their nations supremacy in the Caribbean and it all was linked to obtain the most valuables (Gold / Silver) for their nation, like capturing the Spanish Silver Fleet (I believe here something can be worked out the have each nation have something of value to go after, i.e. Gold / Silver / Iron / Provisions or whatever)

The idea of pirates being able to attack each other is a great idea, but i would rather have the current pirate nation be dissolved and say a new nation created for example a Dutch nation (Historically they were in the Caribbean) and have the current pirates choose which nation they would like to support and have them moved to that nation based on their own choices, still having four nations in total to balance out the system as it is now, i.e. 4 nations.

This would have the effect that you would end up with everybody (us the game players) being able to create a Naval Officer / Free Trader / Privateer / Cutthroat / Buccaneer on the same server for his nation and put a stop to people jumping between nations and cross teaming or spying and spoiling the game.

Everybody playing this game at one point or another wanted to be able to create a different toon class, i.e. trying something new, why do you think so many old nationals created pirate toons, as they became bored of just being a NO or free trader?

This would also put a new dynamic to the game, as you could have different classes in a pvp battle, not to say have them in a Port Battle for their nation.

Not much would have to be changed development wise, as the players are here already and they only need to be moved to a nation of choice and the option to create any class needs to be enabled for all playing the game.

The society factor would need no changing, but care would have to be given to the fact that should a player want to change his nation that it be made very difficult to do or prohibited, as this would again lead to cross teaming and so on which is really spoiling the game.

I understand the historically correctness of the game, but it’s still a game, is it not and one that I for one would never see die, as this is the Best Pirate Game out there.

It just needs a small something to make it the best game of all games ever.

Respectfully Yours

Captain Oliver Tressilian [Pirate / Buccaneer]

You're talking about Privateers. Pirates were rarely hired and attacked everybody, even their own nation.

Black Beard was a pirate, but worked for the crown. He was considered a pirate not a privateer.

Also, this is really something that FLS needs to consider. Maybe have an option where you can work for a nation if you want to. You get a set contract for a certain amount of time and get paid after the contract is fullfilled. The reward could be similar to the Hunt 10 enemy captain mission.

Pirates fighting pirates would be a great feature, would make the game more realistic and seriously interesting.

Would also be good because us rats wouldn't always have to fight FTs NOs Priv and always fight people with diff skill sets. The nats get 3 diff nations and get to fight each other.. Literally equal circumstances.

Adding a feature in where pirates could fight pirates would add more pvp to the game and really make a lot more people want to play the game. Seriously, this really needs to be looked into and eventually added into the game.
