I believe I have a simple solution to the problem. Each ship is given a tonnage rating, in the case of a ship placing its lower tonnage rating in a T-bone position in front of the higher tonnage ship, that lower rated ship would receive structural damage while in that position and being pushed. For example an Arcadia T-bones a Leviathan, the Arcadia would receive 200 points of damage for every second that they were pushed by the larger Leviathan. This would not eliminate the T-bone strategy, but would make it a do or die maneuver.

Preferably, just make the arcadia capsize when hit by a ship of the line, like a reason. Other than that, I agree with Remus.

That said, game codes do rarely work the way we think they do, so I won't be an armchair programmer.

Make the ship much less effective when sailing at 135-180 degrees. Let them turn on a dime and run as fast as they want at 30-45 degrees, but make them slow as hell with the wind at their backs.

I wonder how much I have got right.
Seems logical to me, if I understand you correct, seem to explain what I've seen ingame. But basically, as it is now, this means in a collision, all that comes into account is a ships acceleration and turn-rate etc, since it's basically down to 0 speed or thereabout, and this explains why heavier ships are gimped while being T-boned by an Archadia? Just want to make sure I understand it correct.

Well, if I understand what Remus' is saying correct (wich I may not), and if he is right (wich he may very well be), this isn't even a factor atm. Mass isn't a factor in calculating collisions, so this would mean implementing a new factor.
Furthermore (again, if I understood Remus correct), mass neither is a factor when calculating speed, acceleration etc in the game, instead FLS uses values for accel, speed and different characteristics for each individual ship, until they behave as they want them to, completely leaving out mass all together. If you'd add tonnage for instance as a characteristic here then, that would probably mean they'd have to overhaul all ship stats, and recalculate movement, acceleration, turning, de-accel etc.

Still, I might have understood it wrong, every time I read one of Remus' more extensive explenations, I feel like going back to school and study some more math or something.

For me, a quick fix until FLS manages to take a good look at this, would be to reduce the sail integrity/resistance of the Archadia type ships. Would be logical as well, since their masts really are smaller than most ships they try to rageboard. Make them weaker to demasting themselves, and Archadia captains will have to make some choices as to how to fit their ships. If they still fit them completely for speed, a seasoned captain will demast them, and in that boat without masts they'll probably be toast, or they'll go for more mast integrity/resistance, in wich case a captain has more time to reduce the Archadia as a threat before it's close enough to board.
If the players using these ships have to think about how to do, I think it's a step in the right direction to begin with.
