Default Grenville - 30 June 2012 - France versus Spain

France 24 - Fourth-Rates, various Hercules, Monties etc (me and Nox in OPoseidons, one Centurion, one CMC, one Couronne, one Defiant Mastercraft, one Postillionen).
Spain 24 - same (none of what is in between brackets above).
Map - Stingray Island

We, led by Nox, came out of the right door, exiting west of the small island that is west of the Potato.

We quickly formed a double line and met the Enemy coming from their spawn near the Town. Some linefighting with turning ensued, during which we managed to hold our own, the Enemy eventually subsiding to the south and lurking there in line formation, out of range.

Nox then ordered the fleet to move towards the Town and line accross the channel as is the custom.

We waited for the Enemy to come, which they eventually did, albeit tentatively, trying unsuccessfully to skirm the front (north) of our line. Their main line, when it did charge, did so for our back, along the coast, jamming itself behind the CMC, but the brave Captain Ben Pasriche turned to run down counter to the Enemy, instead of along them as we had to do, which made his sacrifice worthwhile as it kept many enemies busy and allowed the entirety of the rest of our fleet to turn without so much as a bruised stern (not even the Centurion, immediately in front of the CMC, was hit at this point by a single projectile, despite being completely exposed).

Despite the loss of Captain Pasriche we kept the pressure on the Enemy, an efficient focussing of our fire allowing us to fell our foes one at a time, with the very last eventually fleeing. The Town Defense Gun had been sundered at some point, which came in useful as one last fleeing Spaniard wandered off sight, so we waited for the three minutes remaining on the counter and most of the force went in to take the Town, three of us having remained on the water to keep watch.

Bloody well fought, /tiphat

End: Five brave Frenchmen martyred (including the CMC - but that, as it turned out, was on purpose: Ben wanted to make it so he couldn't fleet any more) and one disconnected. Most Spaniards righteously slain (including Riva ); one surrendered, two or three clicked out.

Oh, to chronicle another victory... <3

Grenville gloriously liberated.

Thumbs up My compliments!

As always, well written CF!

I had a Centurion ready for battle, but unfortunately I didn't had the luck to join the battle. I't would had been an honor to fight with these heroes of the French fleet off Grenville! But to hear Nox in TS, was still a good adrenaline rush.

Very well done my good captains. Wery well done! "/Cheer"

Sure.
Nox forgot what his boat was made for and smoked it rather than sailing it, reaching enlightenment in the process.
He then spent a few days gathering all the russians and spamming nation with nonsense like "we will sink they and win map".
People believed him somehow and showed up again. I think we had a full ready room 3 or 4 times since.
