Should thundering broadside be removed?

Even with thundering broadside there's no guarantee of certain success. I've been in fights where it's been used and the group I'm with still loses (sometimes badly). It's not an end-all weapon, but it does make fights more complex. Isn't complexity a good thing? I'd rather play a complex game, than one where all I have to do is spam the trigger .....
