is it not about time to lower the timer on new bids?
there are so many that grief on town bids, waiting 4 mins 58 sec, then bid, and up by 10.. theres no need for 5 mins, enough by plenty with 30 secs any other suggestons than just lower the timer? |

I'm more annoyed with how long it takes to install a governour in occupied ports.
Any port without a governour should only have 1 hour of open biddings after the first claim has been laid. Maybe decrease the timer in closed biddings to 3 minutes? If someone d/c, they should have a fair chance to restart and get back into the game to continue the bidding, imo.

Rework the way bidding works so that it is no longer necessary to be present at the closed bidding. A governor losing because s/he can't be online for the closed bidding is just not right.
Bidders should have to enter a maximum bid before the end of open bidding, and then closed bidding is automatically resolved; the highest maximum bid wins, and the influence beyond the second highest bid + 10 is refunded. Currently a hard-working governor who pours money into a port for upgrades receives no advantages when someone tries to steal the port. I propose that the main method of generating influence should be, not gaining experience, but donations to port treasuries. Each dubloon donated should generate 10 points of influence directly for the donator, which is enough to make influence from grinding mostly irrelevant. To prevent abuse, the governor should be able to disable donations; however, governors who allow their ports to fail maintenance checks should be punished with negative influence. Also, this is getting far off-topic but what happens to the money in the treasury of a port raided by rats? IMO it should be distributed out among the winning PB fleet, not just vanish into thin air.

Oh my... Just imagine the ammount of dayflipping by rats this will cause!
Maybe add so that the governor can change the scheduled PB time to a limited extent? That way, we could avoid empty PB's.
