Post Economy problems

Hello everyone, I am on Roberts server - lvl 50 brit (NO) and lvl 3 FT
I am currently producing ship brass fittings with my 5 eco slots. I've finished it and I have 230 ship brass fittings. Haven't sold it yet tho. I was wondering if I can do something that sells faster.

Get your level 3 FT to 20 and after doing the career missions you'll be able to see all the auction houses and hopefully be able to see what is in demand.

Alternatively ask out for some ship builders and see if any would be interested in a regular supply of your goods at a fair return.

It is quite difficult to find something you can make in 5 lots that both brings in a reasonable profit and sells well. Brass fittings (or brass ingots - most buyers of fittings would probably buy ingots if they thought they were better value) sounds as good as any.

Making money from econ is quite a skill. It needs a knowledge of what is needed, both as finished goods and also as intermediate ingredients in another production line such as shipbuilding, but which the shipbuilder would prefer not to make themselves - and brass fittings certainly fall into this category.
Then there is the choice of where to sell. You should sell your fittings better in the Deep Natural Harbour of Turtling Bay rather than the copper port of Puerto Cabezas, for example. You might even find, a little counterintuitively, that brass fittings sell well in Bartica. There is often a shipbuilder based there and they have no easy access to brass. You might do even better in Bartica with ingots instead of fittings as there might be someone wanting to make ammo, or admiral's overhauls. Or on the other hand, Bartica might be a barren port for brass sales.
Without a good check of the AH to see what is selling where in what quantities and for what price, it would be hard to tell for brass, or indeed to determine what other item could be made for profit.

I just started producing fittings, first time I've done serious econ, using 10 slots to make Huge heavy flanks, runners and acc gun rigs. Not exactly finding a niche but there is certainly demand

Think from 5 slots you could produce most of what you need for either runners or heavy flanks, my set up involves buying most raw mats and then doing the rest myself.

Spent 220k on structures/mats and producing 2 days batch, sold them for 400k already

Runners maybe, but heavy flanked would be tricky; the shipyard alone takes three lots.

Shipyard + Forge + Lumber Mill?

Then you would need to buy oak logs, iron/gold/silver ore/ingots.

Still going to turn a decent profit.

What about ship repairs? People use that often no matter if they die or not.

PvP players tend to rely on 2 repair items: admirals and mast braces. Unless you can make the first rate or well made versions of these items it is probably not worth your effort.

Fleeters tend to use the "free" repair drops and have little need for repairs.

You might have some luck with lower level repair items but I can't imagine this market is huge. Perhaps selling the low level stuff to Cat Island and mid level stuff at Matthew Town might work but I would recommend checking the market history of these goods before you make a stab at it.

One area you might wish to consider is the low/mid level fittings these are usually badly supplied and often the prices are too high. It would help if you know your market places by this I mean where players level.

Low level stuff could be listed at maybe Cat, Bartica, Grenville and Sisal whilst possible ports for mid level stuff could be Turpitude, Belize, Biloxi and Cape de Vela.
