I dont like the new skills one bit I tried them on Priv and NO and i will not be using them in the future, I took 2yrs off POTBS and I will do the same again, I dont want to carry logs around to repair my ship I want a cholera bomb and infect all the frogs, Dons and Rats with scurvy as I drink my lime juice and watch their teeth fall out,I want more realism lol.
sailing the ship on testbed was soul less like a flight simulator

These new ideas and tweaks to the game (which I have always apposed due to MY personal wish for more new content) is surprisingly a great add. I am excited to see how the new repair system works, such as using logs and hemp canvas etc.. to repair your sails and so fourth.
The skill toggle is another great improvement. I have always chose skill toggles over the "magic" skills because it felt more realistic to say, flog my gunners "toggle" to work my crew to reload faster. More realistic I felt.
From my first read of the dev notes I can honestly say I am excited. I would like to see more piratay mechanics or ship sailing mechanics, and I think FLS has the same feeling. In addition I do like the depth of the game and the learning curve, this game is not for the faint of heart and quite honestly the best pvp system accross the board "ship combat".
My 5 x girlfriends would love to see this game go away so you must stay,Thanks again great game keep improving guys.

Have you tested the new patch? have you made any 1 vs 1 or 6 vs 6? cause tbh doesn't seem so...

Months of rehabilitation, infections, and amputations.

PotBS really never considered anything about crew as a critical resource in the game. In reality, finding crew (experienced or not, even warm bodies were useful) was one of the primary concerns of any captain of a ship. Regardless of the physical ship (size, number of guns, etc) if there wasn't enough crew to fight it in battle, it was worthless. FLS did take this into account with degrading some skills due to crew loss, but since crew regenerate faster than tribbles feeding on triticale, these losses tend to not be too important during a battle.

Like the ships themselves, the crew comes back from the dead after each combat.

I have visions from the movie "Ice Pirates" where two of the stars had ***, their child grew up during the battle in time warpish space, and later the young man made the critical attack on the bad guy. Whenever I see crew regen that cannot be explained by lightly wounded being patched up and returned to action, I flash to this movie. Which is bad, because it is a pretty bad movie.

Nah, that's where the old crew ended up. New crew was always lured to signing up, sometimes with a brutal press-gang rounding people up.

There was no rehab to speak of, and the most commong sollution to serious wounds were amputation of the limb. Even you survived that, you wouldn't be able to serve on a ship anymore, except perhaps as officer (like nelson with one arm).
