Take, for instance, Audet. He's probably one of the best avcommers in the game. But you can't really brag about it from a legitimate standpoint bc everybody knows its such a broken mechanic. Shipcom is a little more of an even playing field and, well, he's not the best at it.

So how do you become te best? Sail around in a Stral MC or one of the current op def ships that can't really be sunk-only swat at, and name your toon "Total Noob." That way, nobody can call you noob if you called yourself one first. And if nobody can call you noob...you're ****ing invincible.

we are not negative becus we are bad persons, we are negative becus fls continues to fail hard, patch after patch,

i have nothing against new players, your all welcome,

but on yoru question about helping new players, this game keeps players interested mostly for 5 days/2 weeks
investing in new players has proven to be a huuuuge timesink, becus they all get bored from repetitive gameplay and leave anhyway
so if you want help, complain nag and whine till things chance!
we can do it, together yes we can!!!!! yay!!! whine whine nag nag for the way forward!
(atleast i ended with a positive note!)
Spot on.

My suggestion - WAIT. Month or two.
Portalus have a great chance now, but they have to go down from an Olympus.

Exclamation Call them whines, I call them disappointed players.

I think your absolutly right in allmost all 'Hardrad', but I even think that it's in place to explain the reason to all bad things in the past. (I hope thats ok for the forum adm)

Many vets has bad experiences in the way FLS has treated they'r players/customers by silencing and warn them with infractions in the past year. That made many of the players wery, wery disappointed on some of the FLS staff. But I think everyone agrees that POTBS is one of the most amazing games that's been around. And I sincerely hope for a revival of the game, but it also requires that those who now manages the rudder takes care of their customers in a more professional way than FLS did. Many are we from the old time that now with cautious optimistic hopes, awaits the games development with Portalus.

I've helped many new players to level up in my time in the past years, provided ship to and trained with. I have always feelt gratitude from new players who got my help. And it's a nice thing that makes you give of yourself without getting anything back!

Concordia civium murus urbium!

This game doesn't just need new players, it needs new players to participate in PvP and RvR. The end game revolves around it, but it's also the most fun part of the game. I understand that it can be frustrating to learn because you'll die a lot, but if you stick to it, it becomes the reason you play the game.
On another note, the population needs to spread more evenly across nations. I remember the days when there would be epic 3 (and sometimes even 4) way RvR! Nothing better!!

I'd like to think that there are a lot of new players who are even now working their way quietly and steadily through the missions, leveling and gaining real experience on how to play this great game, and not simply sitting semi afk while some one power fleets them to level 50.

If you play the game the way it was designed, and learn though the missions, you probably have a fair chance of learning how to pvp as well, and should have the DB and outfitting to help you get up each step of the ship progression ladder.

I say hang in there, the game is changing hands soon and things said on the Portalus Games site states they will do want the game to be better and succeed, made up of some FLS employees and we can only hope they do many great things with the game, after all, it is open ended at this point there is much that you can do, PvE, RvR and PvP wise. I'm personally quite hopeful game is great and fun to play in general, one of if not the best pirate game out there.

Some info about Portalus Games and their view on PotBS can be found here, looks promising.

Love it...because it is true.

I had a 2v2 against some rats last night, my buddy got sunk but I stayed in the fight as long as I could to try and put one of them down but eventually I had to make for the escape point...the words in local chat after my initial GF were "U Noob!"
