Default No NPC noise?

One of the things that I noticed really helps create a sense of immersion in other MMOs is random noise by quest givers or other NPCs. Even if they just say 'hello', or some other stock phrase, it's a half second of connection to your world. When I do hear an NPC conversation, it seems soft and muted. While the music is great, not hearing a human voice for hours gets a bit strange.

Try adjusting the individual volume levels in preferences. It's probably just my system, but I set the voices much higher than the other categories and hear all the conversations just fine. You may have to wait for a bit for some of them.

The pirate starting town has some amusing ones. A number of the taverns have good ones too. There some in French that I can't quite understand, I need someone more linquistically inclined to tell me what they are saying.
