Speed is a factor in this, but so is turn rate.
Like I said, Im not talking just speed when I say the game is too fast, but EVERYTHING.

Outside of the rest of the discussion, I think your wrong here. Taelorn's statement about constant damage is saying that your guns take damage all the time (regardless of structure and armour), thus they constantly take damage.

However, that they always take the same damage is absolutely incorrect, and testable. Get two ships, one with heavy guns and crazy-high damage buffs, and one with un-modified light guns. Fire the same number of cannonballs - you'll find that given the same number of hits, more guns are lost to the high-damage balls than the low-damage balls.

All that said, I assume that Damage Reduction is applied before gun damage, but that is not necessarily true.

Regardless of that, it's almost nonsensical that guns take the same amount of damage irregardless of the strength of the hit. It seems vastly more probable to me, simply from reading Taelorn's post, that the "constant damage" is referring to them taking damage every time your ship takes damage, not the quantity of damage taken.

/end derailing post - my apologies!
