I suspect the GM gave you some bad info. There are a number of ways this breaks the TOS. Of course, if they dont choose to act on it thats up to them.

You dont have to use "cash" to buy and sell. Item for Item is still purchasing/selling. Of course for personal things like this, they probably won't care.

I seem to recall there being a rule about not posting GM conversations as well.. but perhaps that was another game..To lazy to look for it right now.

So if we made friends with some chinese gold farmers it would not violate the TOS?

That's not unusual. Have three people send in support tickets on the same issue, and you will get at least two different responses. It seems like they're just guessing over there lately.

There is no buying or selling going on.

He is allowed to transfer dbs from one account to a friends account here (i hope so else all the 'can you lend my x dbs so i cna get a new ship' guys are in trouble).

At the same time on another game or another server there is nothing to stop his friend doing the same, really it's a bit silly to post this as normally there'd be no way to tell the 2 transactions were even connected to each other...

Post The reason I suppose

I think its against policy due to real money exchanging hands. In eve-online for example there is an ingame system to exchange a game code for game money. I wouldnt think there would be a problem with it. This is a good question.

In the Original post he does say he wants to trade his account or ingame gold for another account. That would violate the ToS. Giving a friend who has an account some of your gold isn't against the ToS, unless the devs find out that you actually sold the gold to him (either for cash or for some currency/item in another game.) Giving someone PotBS doubloons in exchange for EvE ISKs would be against the ToS. But very hard to prove, unless they get a conversation log detailing the transaction.
