There was one insult in there, and a fair few valid points. Focus on the points and not the insults, and you win an arguement more easily than by throwing insults back.

No, i do not think SOLs should be the best ships around, able to beat anything in any situation. But if you combine this with the NOs lack of decent lvl 50 frigates and privs and FTs being, as you put it, support classes, how are we supposed to beat pirates on the OS, when they are using either better skills or better ships, or both, consistently?

NO do not lack a decent level 50 ship. On BB I see many NOs in all types of good frigates, TigreMC, DelivHeavy, MrymiMC....etc. How is a Freetrader supposed to beat a pirate on the OS in the same situation?

How are privateers supposed to be a 'true threat on the os' when they cannot compete with pirates in terms of dps or survivability?

You seem to be thinking in a 1v1 sense....or grouped with a majority of Privateers....which really by design isn't supposed to be. Long answer short.......you are not supposed to.

And as for the boarding, i just threw that in because ive been told a fair few times now that privs shouldnt be trying to fight the pirates, we should be trying to board them. Its a different problem, just didnt want it cropping up, as it derails the arguement.

Agreed. I don't board so I can't say much about it. What I know about boarding can fill a thimble.

Basically, you keep pointing to vague ideas like 'your tactics need rethinking' or 'privateers can be a true threat on the os' without giving any evidence or examples of either, but you refuse to address the issue of pirate hercs being unstoppable, in groups, on the os. Do you think a group of 6 pirates in herc variants can be beaten? If so, how?

Well, there is a reason I am being vague. I don't want to give out a trade secret that will end up bitting me in the butt. BUT, there is a real good Privateer on BB named Temujin, Darren Black, and a bunch of the members of GNY they doesn't seem to have any trouble with us. Pirate Hercs are as unstoppable in groups on the OS as any 2d or 1st rate. You can't have your cake and eat it too. I will note say, if you have ship A, then put mods 1,2,3,and 4 on. Otherwise I have to deal with someone who reads this later. BUt like I said before, exploit your strengths. If you have a ship that has a decent reload rate and speed.....don't put armor on it, add more reload and speed or as much as your skills make it fee sable. I took me a few months to get the right outfittings for the ships I wanted....I used this program: http://potbs.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Ships its a little dated, but get the job done.

I think i held back rather well considering the quality of your posts. Your input to this has been 'You must suck then' but with a higher word count.

Fact of the matter is your NO's on other servers are more than likely just 'lot' swapping or not above 30. You have yet to fight a group comprised in the main of Pirate Hercs. Roberts has gone through a faster combat evolution than any other server because of the intense state of warfare.

The group of 5 along with me have been fighting constantly for 4 months against ever changing tactics of a 3 v 1 situation.

1.3 hits , many Pirate Hercs appear. Nationals have nothing to truly combat a Pirate who has half a brain and understands his skillset when hes in a Pirate Herc.

NO's and FT's do not have a viable level 50 OS ship. You can name regular ships as much as you want but the fact is they will not stand up to a Heavy or Pirate Hercules.

And its getting worse now, with you saying a tigre mc, deli heavy or myrmidon mc has even a 1 in 100 chance against a pirate herc.

No, see, having lower dps and survivability is a problem in 1vs1 or group fights, doesnt matter which really. Please stop telling me my class, the privateer, the class which always had all the hallmarks as being good at OS PvP, but never quite made it, was in fact NEVER SUPPOSED TO BE ANY GOOD AT IT.

You problem is in fact, you want it your way. And fail to couple the games intent. The way to fight a Pirate Herc 1v1 as a Privateer is DON'T ENGAGE ONE. Just the same for me when I see a Rate when I am alone. Don't be mad at me for your chosen profession. Who said the Privateer was supposed to have all the hallmarks of PvP??? Are you aware what the class description states? It says be brave....so go forth and be brave. Why would I give you a solution? I am a Pirate......don't be lazy and find a solution yourself. You mates on BB don't seem to have a problem. All I see at this point is "Stomp, Stomp, Stomp, I can't win, Stomp, Stomp, Stomp." Yeah, most would say, learn to play better.
