Default Latency Issues.. :/

Hello all, im having some problems playing the game. I downloaded the game yesterday, patched all fine, game runs fine in towns, but when im out on the open sea the game gets very laggy and becomes unplayable.

Im currenlty with internode and on a 1500/256k ADSL connection, was wondering if that was too slow? and if anyone else from australia were having such latency issue as I am. Would a faster connection help?

Need help, love the look of this game but its just unbearable to play it..

You sure its a lat problem? put all ya graphics down to low see if that changes your problem. I dont think I have heard anyone has a issue with ping in this game not with that type of connection anyway.

Tried that, changed all settings to low and still no improvment in performance..

My PC, AMD64 Athlon 2ghz, 1gb Ram, Radeon 9550 256mb(in need of an upgrade to the pc soon), maybe that is my problem? or could it be problems with internode?

Doubt it mate I got a worse comp then you and I run it fine, dont know about internode but I dont see why they would be having a problem with their link. It might just be the server atm I might log on and take a look.

edit: I got no problem on the server from my end so unless your downloading pr0nz I have nfi what your problem is sorry mate.

Make sure ur not running crap in the back ground m8 thinks like viruse checks and that will make things run slower then a wet weekend and couse it cant hurt to have a faster conection like adsl2 or even true cable.

Try having a look at the general forums too -- OS lag has been an issue in the past, maybe some of those US/EU players are experincing something similar and can provide a solution

Turns out that I have a network issue with my router, TCP/UDP problems. Followed some troubleshooting instructions to create a file name, pirates_local.ini with the following inside

[Network]
forceTcpFallback=true

Totally fixed my problems..

Nice work! I hope people find this thread with some searching in future. Let's see some key words... umm.

Bad, severe, terrible lag on the OS (open sea opensea ocean) turns out to be TCP/UDP issue with router. Check this thread if you've just searched for those key words
