You ever wonder why you don't see more Cadillac driven by blind drivers with their hands tied behind their backs vs Ferrari driven by professionally trained race drivers race for pink slips? Probably because the risk factor is huge for the Cadillac and extremely low for the Ferrari. Consider it risk management or the application of sound fundamental economic principles.

If you remove the vehicle disparity you are still left with the disparity in skillset. Whether the disparity exists or not isn't important. The people you expect to come fight you believe it exists. Until that is addressed I don't see much changing.

While the ferrari has an easy win (in that case, HH vs. others ships are alot closer than what you described), what if it ****s up? Guess what, that POS cadillac just got a brand new Ferrari. Hrm...

Do you believe more people win at the casinos in Las Vegas or lose? By that logic you should just go to Vegas and bet your house. Your potential winnings are so large that it must be a good bet.

No, I never said that it still wasn't a better bet for the Ferrari, but the fact of the matter is if you lose 3 cadillac's trying to make the ferrari screw up, but you achieve it, you still have a ferrari.

Or, if you would mind getting back to the real issue here, see Brei's thread about taking down the PHerc. They lost 3 MC Raa's and a Triton (I think), but took out a PHerc. They win, even though it took them 4 losses vs. only 1 for the pirates.

I don't know that I would argue with you if the purpose of the game was strictly ad-hoc pvp but it isn't. To many people (not including me) the game is more about RvR. These are the people you are likely to encounter. If beating you has no impact on their RvR and losing to you has a negative economic impact on their RvR then it makes no sense to fight you.

I'm not trying to be argumentative. I just understand both sides. You want PvP. You think people should man up and do what it takes to beat you. They want to win at RvR and are doing what it takes to beat you. Both viewpoints are valid within the context of each set of gaming goals.

Uh, AoC is no WoW wannabe, you must be thinking of Warhammer. Sorry, I've been looking at the game for like a year now, and I am annoy for people try to compare them.

I'm thinking the reasom behind the price drop is that no one knew about that game. Honostly, I can't remember ever seeing a comercial or anything advertising this game really release time. Kinda hard to sell a product that no one knows is for sale, after that its just supply and demand.

While you've been looking at AoC, I've played AoC. Yeah it is just a dressed up WoW clone. Keep in mind, WoW was just a dressed up EQ clone when it came out. It's standard practice in the mass market MMO industry to copy what the most succesfull MMO before you has done and add your own twist. In the case of AoC their "twist" is ******s... The active combat is a joke. Ooo 3 buttons to roll your face across to determin your auto-attacks. But I'm sure, if you enjoy the Conan lore, you may enjoy the game. Just don't fool yourself into thinking it's something new. It's the same old idea just run through the wash.
