Spain by no means is out of the game & i disagree with the comments that Spain will die out within the month with me at the helm of the Avatars.

I've had some conversations about what can be done to help boost our numbers short term so we can at least make 24 into a pb.

The community that we have with the Avatars and Untouchables stem from long term player associations that were in operation before Potbs hit. So we'll be able to weather the storm and see it through

We have a plan and internally its being followed through. So when people are trying to taunt us out to play its not being met because we are sticking with what we have set out.

We'll play when we are ready to do so once more until then its a lovely day for sailing.

I am hoping that this is a faction wide pheonominum, and that it isent just the pirate faction. But i have noticed a lot of new pirates in the newbie zones and i am hoping that all nations are experiancing the same thing.
The more newbies we have the better the chances of this server, and to put it bluntly the game has of surviving.
I am really enjoying pretty much all aspects of this game and am hoping it can weather the storms and survive.
It would be a shame if it went "soft round chest bumps" up.

France has got very few new guys this week and by very few I mean 1 guy that probably wont sub, It would seem spain as also had very little influx. Its good seeing new blood hopefully spain will get more to get them back on there feet, 7 peeps to a port battle is really depressing for both sides. No one likes to win a PB by default it just makes the hrs of grinding we do pretty much pointless.

we lose both Deepwater ports + 3 of our main production ports and our AH has been screwed from the beginning with 500% markups on most goods and newbies willing to pay it.
How was that Spain's problem? You took Port of Spain which gave you Iron which meant any problems should have disappeared. Spain had an issue with Ammo costing too much. I stepped up and solved that.

Quote:
Spain cops a bit of it's own special recipe of what it was dishing out to us while telling us to harden up, and now the shoe is on the other foot, it's 'oh so terrible, it's all fallen apart, the economy is screwed, the server will die, etc. etc.'
You attacked us first.
03-28-2008 - Britain Attacked Puerto de Plata(Spain), Spain Repels the Attack.
03-24-2008 - Spain Attacked Spanish Town(Britain), Britain Repels the Attack.
03-23-2008 - Britain Attacked Caracas(Spain), Spain Repels the Attack.
03-13-2008 - France Attacked Gibara(Spain), Spain Repels the Attack.
03-12-2008 - Britain Attacked Port of Spain(Spain), Britain Conquers

Need I remind you that the "special recipe" was based on the behaviour of your national members, including boasting about how you had oh so many players and had enough people to defend 2 battles. The double attack on your DWH was not planned. We had grinded Turtling for about a week with nothing happening against us, we flipped, then France eco-bombed and quickly flipped St Johns about 55 minutes later. 4 days later they attacked Spanish Town (and you won that battle).

The time from your first attack to you losing Spanish Town to Spain was a MONTH.

Spain lost Havana, Turtling (in a double attack against Santo which we only had enough players to defend Santo with about 16 players), Gibara (later that same night), Santo, Marcaibo (on the same night), and Santiago in less than 2 weeks.

Quote:
We copped a huge hiding more so then Spain has thus far and sure we complained about it, but meanwhile we knuckled under, flushed out the bad and brought in the good, organised ourselves into much more tightnit societies and a full spectrum British alliance to work as one and now we are slowly regaining our balance to counter Spain's domination.
You also had a heap more new players than Spain has ever had. We've probably lost more players from general player loss than we have gained from new players or trialers.

Quote:
maybe we will let France win the map by wiping out Spain for its evil attempt to kill Britain.
Our evil attempt to kill Britain after they attacked us first? Sure.

I've got a degree of sympathy for Mack's viewpoint here (probably the first time I've had a degree of sympathy for Mack's viewpoint on anything, I must be getting soft...). But:

It really doesn't matter who started it, it matters who finishes it. Can I suggest a different, although not incompatible history of the server so far

- A couple of idiots in Britain managed to get everyone's back up to the point where half the server hated us, and we got smashed to pieces by both the Spanish and the French, for which I can only say (although I wasn't thinking it at the time), good job well executed.
- We rebuilt, re-organised, and basically went and did exactly the same to the Spanish, who are now in the situation we were in, and who from all appearances appear to be taking the same steps to address the situation as we did, so best of luck guys.
- We are now under some form of attack by the French, and in all probability my lovely 4th rates I spent so much time doing painful grinding so I could pay for outrageously taxed materials on, are going to be driftwood by the end of the month, courtesy of Kuro's floating deathstar squadron..if not sooner.
- Which will, in all likelihood, buy Spain enough time to rebuild a little more...
- And so the circle of life will begin again, just like in the Lion King (a simile which I think makes Britain the stupid warthog guy of the group, but you get my point).

So rather than worry about what did happen, doesn't it make more sense worrying about what you're going to do next?

This circle of life would be much funner for everyone involved if the "alliances" were formed against the strongest faction, not the weakest.

Otherwise you just see people RvRing for second place, which is not fun.

Yeah well, that thought had occured to me as well, but you gotta go with what you have sometimes.. bear in mind, the reason that a faction is the weakest is because everyone forms up against them - cause and effect is the other way round. For example - Britain got crushed in part because everyone thought we had a hugely greater player base (not that some internal idiots didn't encourage that view) - so we ended up being the weakest. Spain got done because they kept capturing ports - so then everyone went for them and now they're the weakest. And so it goes...
