Are you talking about EQ online adventures? That would be the ultimate proof.
Gee which came out in 1997? Sorry I didnt specify to begin with.

Neither came out in 1997. This is simply an error on the site.

The teal line here is the first EQ that came out and it completly dwarves AO, especially by your standards.

Yeah my bad, a couple of sites had it wrong. Reguardless, the amount of subs a game has doesent define how good of a game it is. That was the point I was trying to make. Did you look up Dofus the game? lol

And how many subscribers it has also is not the only indication of how good a game is doing. I don't think WoW is doing as well as the 10 million people playing it are suggesting, there are many issues with it.

And POTBS is not doing just as well as AO just because it has roughly the same number of subscribers, considering how AO tanked due to the terrible launch.

Yeah, I agree. You also have to consider the size of the market now compared to then. IMHO, MMO's arent like wine and generally dont improve with age, not saying they dont get better at all of course. Please go look up the game Dofus it has 450k subs.

With Age of Conan coming out will this game survive?

Just a comparison to show how wrong panic posting can be.....

Original post was on the 9th with "hardly any red zones"

There are currently 8 red zones, with 1 port battle having been fought earlier today.

I dont know what hours you play, but myself and a sizeable group managed to pvp all weekend, killing a number of your society members, among others. We pvp'd, without a lack of opposition, at port royal, caracas, st johns, matthew town and puerto del principe all weekend (my normal play time on a weekend spans anywhere from 8am to 2am gmt-7).

In fact, just before posting this i was on the OS watching a group of brits chasing around a group of rats (mad kaleesha and co.), and i myself was chased twice in 20 minutes at 2 different ends of the map (once by a group of crimson blade).

Before you 'panic post' in the future, maybe wait just a little bit, consider the day of the week it is, time of the day, etc. before running to the forums to say that everyone has up and vanished.....

There was not one patch here where i couldnīt wait to get into the game and try it out.
The patches here were all balancing patches and i think that is because their dev team is too small to do anything else.
And with all those subs canceled i donīt see their dev team getting any bigger.
If you pay attention to some of the threads and such about what they are planning of doing and some insight on whats coming out in future patches, then you will see that they are making progress on these things.

A lot of people expect too much to come out of this game in the first 3 months its been out. At least they are making new patches frequently. Now I sorta have an idea where my money is going into =)

If you played several MMOs over the last years you will have noticed that every development team always has great stuff planned.
You see Vanguard had wonderful things planned. Ship to Ship combat and stuff. Will we ever see it ? No.
Horizons had great stuff planned, as had Auto Assault, Dungeons and Dragons Online or Matrix Online. Asherons Call 2 had great things in the pipe.
But did one of these games ever deliver ? No they didnīt.

So excuse me if i am a bit to disillusionised to belive that any of that great stuff will ever be realized.
Fact is that almost any of those <50.000 Sub games canīt afford to have a big programmer staff and all of then run on life support with some balance and tweaking patches every few months.

To be honest i wouldnīt even notice the difference between PotBS v 1.0 and 1.3 if i could play both parallel. Ok maybe i would notice but only because of the font chance, the biggest change for me.

Exactly. When it comes to long-term plans and announcements, my own view tends to be "I'll believe it when I see it". Not before.

And also, were we all just supposed to keep paying every month until the change that we were waiting for finally makes it to the fore front? Say, I think that player owned structures will be the addition that takes it over the top (which I don't). Am I just supposed to keep shelling out money every month for a game that doesn't live up to my expectations, hoping upon hope that the next patch will be the leap home? I don't think so.
