I agree.. Remove the circles..

Replace them with triangles..

Seriously though not a bad idea.. Just horrible and silly. 76 diferent flags.. consensual.. no bubbles..

Redunkulas.

Fair PvP is what the dueling system is for...

But heck.. At this point they need to try some drastic with PvP...

Like take your idea here.. Throw it away.. And make it so it doesnt take hours of PvE to PvP.

Yah, i like that much better.

Removing red zones and turning PotBS into Trammel UO will force me to quit the game. I chose this game after hearing a friend mention it and seeing a dev post the following quote below in my sig.

If a whole bunch of PvE'ers are crying, let them cry. I don't mind playing on one server, but don't carebear down this game anymore than it is.

I love to pvp...other people love for me to pvp, especially those that snk me all the time

I like the 1v1 or 6v6 flag thing...sounds like it would actually do something good for a change. BUt you'd have to keep the red AND at least be auto 1v1 when you entered. After a port goes red, there's no need to be there unless you're raising contention...and don't hand me that crap about missions, you can do the same thing I did when I was leveling up and not pvping...just wait for it to be decided THEN go back in there.

It cracks me up to see people with that quote in their sig. That quote drove many people from the game.

Hope you're enjoying your empty red circles while you're making war not fair in your favor...lol

Everyone said the same about EvE. Eve went through the same cycle. Go back to WoW or Hello Kitty Online.

This to me sounds like the simpler solution. The OP's idea is interesting but would require alot more work.

Either way making PvP Truly consentual is good for both sides. PvE types are no longer blocked from the content. Folks into the RvR side of the game benefit too, since the 3 circle limit for each nation was mainly put in to keep the entire ocean from going red and being unplayable for PvE. That limit could be expanded if this flag was added.

More ports in contention means more port battles which means people get in them more often. Also means more frequent map flips and more war overall.

Fun for all. Well except the ganker type player who would be deprived of the easiest prey. But I wont lose any sleep over that.

Perhaps we should get the ball rolling with a quote-sig of our own, sort of a forum rebellion for the game we want to see thrive:

It has a multiplicative effect, creating an environment in your game, and a reputation outside your game, and people tend to steer clear.

I myself proposed a 1vs1 flag a few days ago, so I couldn't agree more with the OP. And yes, war is not fair, but we are talking about a GAME, so that argument just makes no sense (you know, games, unlike war, are supposed to be fun).

Or.. just have every port have every resource, then you wouldn't have to haul either or worry about the pvp meanies.

Does that sound fun?

This IS a pvp game. Essential to the game is that pvp affects a nation's supply lines. Try getting some friends to provide an escort to move goods. If you're afraid to sail into a port or afraid to pvp and defend an important port, then you will suffer. Those that DO defend and do find ways to still transport their goods, despite warfare raging nearby... those are the ones that get the benefits.

It's possible this just isn't the game for you.
Quite clearly, given the subscription numbers, it's also not the game for a lot of people out there. PvP is in critical care and I doubt that in its current form, it will provide sufficient players to sustain the game in the long-term. All these arguements you make were perhaps valid when the game was released but the conditions have changed and FLS (to my mind) needs to adept.
