In spite of the many derogatory posts about you all lately, I finally got to take part in a good 6v6 heavy battle tonight. I learned a few things, and luckily got away alive...
1. If you're going to attack OMG, get 6 players on a vent server, not 1 or 2 from random societies, miscommunication screwed us big-time. 2. PvP against hardcore gamers isn't fun. I had a blast leveling up, but will probably move on now. No hard feelings against OMG at all, it's just that when you only have a few hours to play a week, it feels pointless and frustrating to take on uberl33t players. 3. In my eyes, OMG has lived up to it's name, for good or for bad. I doubt my skills will ever stack up, so onwards to greener pastures, PvE, and maybe some more even pvp against other nations. /tiphat to ya'll. 4. 4th rates do not do well in pvp battles, both 6v6 heavy battles i've been to I've seen 4th's sunk. And especially against OMG's coordination, just don't bother. Bring cheaper ships you don't mind losing and try to focus your fire on one of the forum pvp'ers to release some of that frustration... :-) ps - I'm sure most of you have noticed, but in-game, most of OMG is actually extremely pleasant and normal, not sure why there's such a difference in the forums. I really need to stop reading them all together, they've given me a lot of incorrect notions about entire guilds. another lesson learned i guess. pps - in an unrelated incident, a top notch speed rigged hermes sleek can't outrun an OMG gank squad, their stacked buffs get their cutters going way too fast... |

As far as I'm concerned, OMG is going to keep France alive once everyone leaves for AoC.

Was glad to finally get to fight you guy's. We tried to not roll too heavy, just a bunch of friggates. If we had brought heavy boats, it would have just been strait up nasty. We have been going out lately in VERY beatable groups. We started off the evening in small/medium boats for the brits. They need as much encouragement as they can get. We did well, took out some heavy boats with them (A few Heavy Herc's in MUCH less.) I must admit, if you are fighting OMG, no communication, or lack of communication is definately NOT a good thing. Heck when we have 2-3 pvp groups going in the same vent channel it can get a little insane, and make communication hard. But ya learn to deal with it. Communication is key. Don't be discouraged about pvping just because you fought OMG. Their are plenty of others out there to fight. We are but a small portion of the pvpers on the server. (Although, I would like to think one of the most active.) We enjoy pvp. On the forums, we claim to pvp to farm MoV, in reality, if they got rid of the MoV rewards alltogether, and gave us nothing for pvp we would still be out there doing it. It's the mentality of the players we have. And honestly, this game has some of the best group based pvp I have ever seen in an MMO. A downside of that, a group that works together all the time, and pvps together does have an advantage. A lot of OMG players I have been gameing with for 5+ years. Even if a lot are new, they tend to pick it up VERY quickly (Just set good eamples for them to follow, they go with the flow, and do well). Forums are a playground just like the game is. Their are some sections that are not so much a playground, and I would say should be reserved for more constructive debate about the game and it's mechanics. But the Server specific forums? It's just part of the game. I am one person on the forums, another in game. I will flame you here, and offer you help there. On the forums, I can be a voice of reason in one post, and flame in another. People just usually look at the flames though. As for 4th rates.. They can be both an asset and a liability in OS pvp. And it really depends on your group, and who you are fighting, and what boats they are in. But I will let you descide what exactly 4th rate's role is in OS pvp. We use them (Not so much lately, we find that they are too intimidating for most groups, and we get less fights with them. So sadly, they sit at the dock, awaiting a chance to come out to play.) If you like, get a hold of me in game.. I will put together an seriously underpowered group to come fight you with. You may bring any boat you like. ((6v6 of course)). I don't mind fighting severly outgunned. And I think you will even find fighting us that way challenging. - Ice_Hole of OMG Im Drunk |

I guess I could let the cat out of the bag. We intend to play both, AoC and Pirates. So you will more than likely be seeing less of us. (Substantially less at launch of AoC, ten hopefully a little more and time goes by.) A lot of us really enjoy pirates. The fact of the matter is, we have a LOT (and I mean a LOT) of returning members who didn't feel a pirate mmo is what they really wanted to play. No matter how much fun we told them that it was. It's a niche market as has been stated a ton of times, but a lot of different people. One which I think people will catch onto and really enjoy. But no matter how well a small group of people does, it odviously can't hold off attacks on multiple fronts. BUT, we can defiantely go in and have some fun. PVP is where it's at, and all the portbattles we can get, and fill up. As long as France can still field a full portbattle we are good to go (Honestly, not a TON of French around anymore, lots have left early for AoC, or got too wrapped up in the made up drama.) Either way, I know we will give it our best, and make the best showing possible as a guild. And contrary to popular belief, OMG does not dislike the red circles, it will be one hell of a challenge, thoes portbattles are DAMN close in terms of time. But overall, we all look forward to them. - Ice_Hole of OMG Im Drunk |

OMG are one of the most worthy oppononets i faced. no trash talking, in out do the job and exit. yes many dislike them, but i beleive it is more out of jealousy then anything else. Human nature... now having said that, i love to sink OMG's more then anything out there. but i respect them as opponents. /tiphat may we cross broadsides at the upcoming portbattles Ramone morano |
