I think the invite system works just fine, the dirty secret is a lot of people decline their invites. I had 30 contention for Biloxi and I don't even remember when I got those contention points. I did not get an immediate invite but within 2 minutes I got an invite. I forgot when was the last time I had any contention points but the battle started without me.

So I have attended Greenville, FdF and Biloxi and got sunk in all of them.

Yes, but as I re-read the thread, only one complained of no invite, which is about on par with a full battle. I think what is happening, that people, unknowingly, are either getting an invite while in game but AFK, or are dismissing the invite rather than declining it. I can't recall right now if the invite text box has a close button. If it does, then that needs to be linked to decline, which it may not be (the coders believing that one or the other radio buttons will be pressed but leaving the close widget in because of the wincodex). If people are getting invites while AFK, that needs to be social engineered or fixed in coding also if an invite is sent to a login, but AFK person though that will be hard as there is an AFK timer.

Finally, the last option is that someone holds an invite until the 2:30(?) timer runs out. As I understand it, all 24 places must be filled before the timer runs out. Many, many, people can decline, or accept then leave, and as long as the last person accepts before the timer runs out, they get in. I generally tend to reject theories that imply someone is holding an invite hostage out of spite or meanness.

I assure you that I was in port 3 minutes before invites were sent and stayed in port until the battle started. I got no invite, wasn't afk and the little window thing never popped up. This problem is listed in the known issues forum, so i didn't bother to fill out a ticket. To my knowledge, this is the first time it's ever happened to me. If it happens again though I'll file a ticket

I'm just chalking it up as a random mishap.

Not like you would have made any difference. You are just one person and your PB leadership is severely lacking. You can see it by your narcissictic posts during the server transfers, you know, the ones where you told the rest of the Brits if they accept invites they are automatically at fault for the Port Battle loss. All you can do, in fact all you have ever done is run you loud mouth about your superiority and blamed the other Brits for your shortcomings.

See what Edward is trying to say is that bugs are not intellegent, they just happen. They are equal opportunities bugs, they dont happen to just enemies of France. Its just that French still have a bigger pool of willing participants online at that given time. Yes, bugs happen to all, see Rochelle's post a bit earlier in this very thread.

Well I went to the PB, I would like to say a couple of things! One I give credit to all the (12) brits that showed up! Any of us could have left and said this is not worth it! I along with everyone of them could have pushed the exit button before the battle started, but none did! You could say this was stupid, in the end ya it was!

I stayed because I helped flip this port and I know that if we would not have shown up for the battle the french would have been on here saying that we flipped a port and didn't show up! Now on the flip side the french get on and talk (smack, trash) whatever, because we only had 12 show up and lost again!

I Knew when I came to this PB I was gonna loose my Alex, did I worry about it, no! Why because I expected it. The french are very good, well organized in both PvP and PB. I tip my hat to you! You have the right to talk trash smack or whatever, you eaned it! If the shoe was on the other foot, there would be Brits on here doing the same! I have lost more durability in the last week than I wanted to, but I love the battles!

I wish the british nation could get it together so we could atleast be competitive in either one of the two areas! We had some good PvP ers but they got fed up with the tug-o-war on what to do! Some guys make 50 and think that now they are invinceable in there 4th rates in PvP battles, and get sunk and get mad at everyone because they lost there ship in a PvP battle! If you bring a ship to a PvP battle know how to use it, and be prepared to lose it if you don't! If you can't afford it don't use it!

I agree and also reject theories that imply a nation is too scared/ambivalent/depressed to field 24 players. I would have thought the horde would have gotten invites even if way down the list and jumped in regardless. Of course, the population may be so low...

See you are not getting flamed for showing up with 12, you are getting flamed because this is a second time this has happened. The first time was the Rosaue PB when only 8 Brits showed up. Both were offensive PBs.

I don't care about getting "Flamed" As a Brit its sad to be at a PB and only have 12, 8 whatever show up! Flame away, we deserve it! Everyone says there here for Britain but they never show up for the PB, they always say they did't get an invite! (and I am not talking about you XYlander, I know you would show!)

The French were the least populated nation the first 2 maps, and look at what they have done! We and the spanish were the most populated and we are doing the worst! I just don't get it! The P-rats will probly pass us when they get their Buccaneer career!
