I'm not trying to be negative, merely pointing out the problems in the original proposition. In essence all it was was 20 cutters vs 19 cutters and a SoL. That's honestly not all that fun an idea.

Warning: Thread derailment incoming.

The fun left this game when everyone discovered Woes, or Aid for Trade or whatever other similar quests are available to all the other nations. Before then everyone was running around in the open sea attacking fleets of ships for xp, loot and contention at the same time. The xp was the best we could come by(at the time), the money was decent, we were meeting people and learning how to play but more importantly we were being forced to take part in RvR. Now everyone is off locked away in their instances safely grinding gold over and over for ever more expensive ships that take weeks to put together and never having to risk anything or go near pvp. Theres 0 risk since if you do somehow screw up you just leave the group and exit the mission and the money is infinitely better then the open sea Trust me, I went and solo'd an 8 Pack in the pvp zone earlier, the money and the loot was terrible, not to mention how long it took me. Sadly I don't see people giving up Woes and going into the open sea.

As for the port battle I'd even be happy with a gunboat battle or a desperation duel to the death battle but if you'd prefer an alteration to the original idea how about the gunboats like Markess suggested but instead Spain has to one at a time run the gauntlet to the SoL in an attempt to sink it but the SoL is never allowed to repair?

Thread derailment continued (and apologies for that)

+1 Lisp. I've been doing a bit of solo fleet killing also lately and it has to be said, the loot is nowhere near as good as Urgent Fury and if you don't pay attention it's a damn sight more dangerous, at least by yourself. It is possible to lose a ship to one of those fleets if you stuff up - it's practically impossible in UF. Not to mention you need to spend time in-zone to do it effectively.

That said, I had a lot more fun taking an MC Raa into the red zone a while back than I do shepherding my precious heavy ships into another "form a line, switch to autofire, make a coffee and catch up on my reading" mission. So I'm going cold turkey. Personally I have decided that I'm now happy to take noobs leveling absolutely anywhere except for UF. I am going to try and finish UF so I'm not tempted to do it again. Probably will financially cripple me, but - do it too much, especially at early levels, I reckon it dulls your skills, it makes you think battles are easy, it means you gain XP without gaining any real experience and it wrecks the game... this is not meaning to have a go at anyone who does it, it makes perfect economic sense, it's just crap game design..

End of Rant and apologies for derailing any remaining carraiges even further.

Actually, i quite like the gunboat idea, but I think it's a bit too late to switch it now. Maybe next time?

So for this time:

France in level 21 or below ships (there ya go jim), Spain in level 30 or below. France brings one SoL that can't repair at all (except naturally if it gets out of combat.)

Spain wins if she sinks the SoL.

I need a few Spanish leaders to sign this before tonight so we know it's going on. Otherwise we'll have to assume it's business as usual.

So no response - no event.

We'd appreciate if no Spanish show up to make things as simple as possible
