I'm a Brit, celebrated by my trade union. What does this do? Why should we care?
Faction status is a large part of the end game. Aside from fan site speculation there is no official word on what faction beyond esteemed does exactly. I understand that faction with the various companies alters the Euro-trader exchange rate (though celebrated is broken) and opens up quests just as it does with the religious organizations. But what is the upside of trade union faction? Other than keeping it above -500 so that we can continue to trade at the auction houses what is the purpose? |

Why was this moved to the Economy discussion? This isn't about the economy!!!
This question was meant for the ASK A DEVELOPER section. I wanted to hear some concrete answers about faction reputation. NOT about the economy! |

Are you sure you posted it in the right forum in the first place? When the moderators move posts they have always included a post of their own stating that they did move it. There is none, so I doubt they moved it.

Unfortunately this is not the case. Aether and Danica tend to say when they are moving threads, the others don't. Theoretically they move them so the right developers will see them, but it sure doesn't feel that way given the general lack of responses. I really think they should take away the ask a dev forum if they don't plan on giving at least a short answer to every question.

Yep, definitely posted it to the ask a dev section. Checked in on it there several times hoping for a response. After being away all weekend I went and looked for it again and saw that it was completely gone from the Ask a dev area. I had to do a search of all posts made by Admiral Krunch to find out where it had gone.

So why no response. Forget which forum it was or is, the DEV's or the Moderator should at least reply. I want to know the answer as well.

No response because they have no answer.
Or because they don't care anymore. Can't ask player questions when you're busy sending resumes to Blizzard, EA etc all day. |

To the OP, you want to keep it above 10 if you want to build in foreign ports. The faction system was originally going to be part of a much grander system that either hasn't been implemented or been forgotten. I imagine they might use it again with port governance, but the moment the only think I can think of is "so that you can keep hunting trade union ships with too much worry".

Yea the rep part of this game could have been terrific yet seems to have been forgotten to grandier ideas like Point a Pitre getting made to look better. Lord the people that run FLS have their priorities all messed up.
In no order 1- PVP 2- PBs 3- Econ 4- Rep 5- Quests 6- Ships 7- Skills 8- Instances 9- Running Ports Governors etc 10- I guess I need a 10 graphics and sound. No where on there should ports look to be upgraded to nightmare status. You can do this 2 years out when the game is running great and the players are happy.

If they have people that are specialized in working on the art, and city layout of the game, likely those same people aren't the ones who are able to balance PVP. |
