Tried florentine getting overwelmed in quest missions

I'd definately say that florentine is the best defensive swashbuckling skillset out there, especially if you set it up right.

You need to look through at ways of increasing florentines high base stats and then matching abilities up to that to increase them while also getting things like balance regen (I'm not going to walk you through it, just take some time to look at the base stats and the abilities list carefully...)
