I think it's fair to say that Spain is temperamental and abusive in it's discipline. There are a number of recent examples of "We want peace", then "You didn't salute us" then, "We eat your young! arrr!".

That's normal when you live in a state of play where you think everyone owes you respect because you're the King. It's also normal for everyone else to envy, mistrust and talk poopie about the winning faction.

I'm relying on the individual character of the people I've discussed this with and the general character of the player in Spain.

Give you an idea, one of the old hand Spanish; I once sunk him 4 times over a several hour period while he was out grinding defensive contention for the port battle by himself. My head would have exploded the second time.

If we(The Brits) have to smuggle every piece of components in to St johns to build our Sols or even sailing 30-40mins against the wind to turtleing bay then you can suck it up with a red around havana and cayo. Thats my two cents on that...

Anyways,
this agreement which you are all voteing for. I hope it does go in to effect. I dont want to see my enemies leave the game due to the havana, cayo always in the red. So i wish you guys the best of luck fending off the sharks(Pirates).

hehe, small chance of that. Seriously, there is no such thing as an effective blockade. Only taxes matter.

Cos if you are, thats not really much to go by.
nah, garbad has the same chance to negotiate an agreement with Brits that I have in being crowned Miss Universe.
I was referring to the fiasco a couple/three maps back when one of your self-declared leaders jumped in our former vent to seriously work out an agreement with all of us. We spent considerable time and actually believed it would help us to recover (as we were still WAAAY down at that point)--turned out the whole thing was BS.
The map flipped and Spain had flipped a brit port, was grinding TB, and was hitting our grinding fleets in other red zones--by like 10 a.m.!

As far as we could tell it was all a scam and there was never the least bit of good intention behind it.

It was that mess i was referring to when I said Spanish players are untrustworthy. It's what I learned when the Spaniards essentially kicked us when we were down--after getting our agreement to hold off.

Of course there are other opinions about what happened there--it was debated enough.
I'm not bitter at all--it was just another lesson learned. Spanish players are good at politics and unable to be trusted.

Personally I would ally with the Pirates before having a serious discussion with the Spanish nation again. I was present that last time from start to finish and am still amazed at how casually that whole lie was worked through by Spaniards.
I would never be bitter over the outcome of a computer game--there just isn't anything important enough on the line.

If the French and Spanish make an agreement, then that is just fine. Maybe it will benefit the server.
I'm personally skeptical but who knows? Maybe it will help out the French.

As for you Stokes--fair winds and good sailing to ya.

Any bets on how long before Spain declares France "a huge threat with their vastly superior fleet of mostly fourth rates" and attacks Cayo and Grenville?

Quite a long while, actually. You may notice we have never attacked cayo or gren in the last 2 maps, at least. If you respect basic decency you receive it. I have no desire to crush the frogs, and if I could I would help them in any way short of throwing a battle.

As I recall you had Grenville for most of the map, two maps ago.

I think that was 3 maps ago, and that was in retaliation for a noob port attack by france. That was before I was a don tho, so I could be wrong. Since I have been here, no one has even contemplated an attack on cayo or gren, and I doubt we would unless france hit ours first.

Of course, that was an unorganized attempt that only got up to around 3k. I think 6 Frenchmen were involved?
