I admit it...(input needed)

First step to solve a problem is recognizing the problem ...so before anything else I admit it. I SUCK at 1vs1 Pvp.

Not the only example but ... yesterday I crossed paths with a french privateer in the red. I was in a lvl50 privateer Discovery. He was in a privateer Discovery aswell...but he was a lvl41. I was in a bit of a hurry to log (was late for a rl commitment) but I said "what the heck, this will be fast".

What happened then was one of the most embarrasing moments I've gone through in a MMORPG. Ever.

He got me running tails between legs. Twice (repaired the first, came back to him, only to have to run once again. this time for good). When a lvl41 priv gives your lvl50 priv a run for his money in a similar ship you know you ain't doing it right. In fact you know you're doing it ALL wrong. He gave me such a rough treatment that I couldn't believe it.

so...please, some hints? help?. I could go on saying which is my build, or what I am doing ,but looking at the dismal results, It's better to start blank.

So let's say I know nothing and I got no skills (neither in-game, nor IRL, lol)... and I want to be at least proficient soloing with my privateer...

Hints? ideas? tactics? ...
