Umm...I and many other Captains left after the last server merge. I recently came back and have been exploring the changes and in some cases improvements to the game.

But here's the thing, in the short time I've been back I've already seen server load increase so why the push to merge? If FLS would have taken the advice/recommendations of the Captains who where here in 2008 then they might not have a game that is struggling to 'stay afloat'.

I really enjoy this game and hoped it would have done better but there are other issues than server population and in many cases (i.e. port management) they have yet to pull it off. Also any word on new ships or raising the level cap? Additionally if everything is geared for pvp (because with more folks there will be more societies doing port flips for the 'fun' of it) what happens to the newby who is trying to figure the game out. I've seen 3 50's jump a lvl 8 because Bartica was in the red...then when I talked to the person afterwards they had gotten a month long script but wouldn't come back when it was over.

Yes I'm only recently returned so there may be information that I don't have that may allay my fears...all I can hope is this is not some money saving venture by FLS/Sony that will finally kill the game. From what I've read above, it seems as most are in favor of a merge but I guess...be careful for what you wish for, it just might come true...

hmm well i just looked it up it is not bad but.

if you have those things like switching nation every map win ore lose will make total chaos in the game.

i say let the guys transfer all there things 2 the accounts that they wanna keep in stead of these options it will totaly ruin the game but we will see if so i want 2 transfer all i got

I believe with the desire of the general majority to keep this game going and the possible use of the right incentives this game will naturally balance themselves, the ability to maintain characters in other nations to do this with naturaly balance the game.

My thought while typing this is the chance that maybe too many will roll from winners to underdogs it will just shift the over pop. Maybe some visual display of nation pops as a percentage or some other way can more accurately show the shift of players after a map and prevent too many shifting and therefore maintain balance of some degree.

I definitely like the loyalty bonus thing. I mean, I don't like the fluctuation of the populations after each map...but at the same time I understand that people have leveled multiple toons and dont want to simply lose them. But on the first hand, I think that population levels should at least try to remain stable. An incentive to stay with a certain nation after the map resets would be nice. This way, you don't have to stay....but you get rewarded for it.

But, all in all....I love the idea of merging servers....theres been too many times that I've been on at 9:30 or 10:00 PM EST and not seen a soul on the sea...

Why was Black Beard chosen to be retired when they always have more players on? How did FLS come to this decision? Makes no sense to the many here on BB.

Why wouldn't you transfer all the players on all the existing servers to 2 new servers, so it doesn't look like you are favoring some and treating the others like the bathwater? No one likes to have to start over again.

Along with the server consolidation, or soon after, perhaps open a new server, no transfers. Since it's all about me anyway, please schedule PBs on the new server 7am/ 7pm California time.

Maybe they could change the name of antigua to blackbeard?

Honestly... what is the difference? Do you enjoy staring at the word Blackbeard on the server select screen? Because honeslty, that is the only time you will notice the difference.
