Default Deploying to Kuwait/Iraq. What server should I use to play with son in US?

Hello,

I am deploying with the US Army to Kuwait/Iraq. My son is in New Jersey. To play together, wWhich server should we use?

I have two PotBS 12-month accounts/subscriptions -- one for me and one for my son. We are both using Vista.

I am currently at my mobilization station in Oklahoma and will be leaving in a few weeks. Obviously, my son is in New Jersey. We have been playing on Roberts (EU). Other than some -- sometimes severe -- Vista lag issues, our connectivity has been fine.

I hope to hear from you soon.

All the best,

Tom

Hello there!

You could still continue to play on EU Roberts; this way you'll both have plenty of other players online at the same time when you can't be playing together.

I'll let others talk about their fave servers and why they think you might like them.

Good luck!

the servers to my understanding are all in the same place so the server itself should not make a difference as far as connectivity to iraq, if thats what your asking. as for lag im going to assume that from iraq you will be using satalite which will result in higher then normal pings/lag. there was a sticky somehwere in the forums about a vista/lag fix that may help resolve lag on your computers and help reduce the overall lag your going to encounter. while a highly populated server might be nice when you two cant hook up the extra players generated may cause some additional lag, but its easy enough to hang out closer to the edge of the map.

god speed

I do hope you have the means to actually connect to the game wherever you go. As someone who used to work in that area in the Army, MWR connection traditionally do not allow internet gaming (as well as other things), and the various connection issues with NIPR also prevent such things. You would have to acquire your own internet connection that is not related to either.

Good luck to you in that.

Default Thank you for your support.

All,

I greatly appreciate the supportive comments! I really do!

I originally selected Roberts EU because I thought the server was somewhere in Europe. I figurered it might be a bit closer to locales in South-West Asia. Knowing now that they're all in Seattle I now understand that it may not make any difference.... As such, unless some new information becomes available, we're probably going to stick with Roberts EU.

Again, thanks and all the best,

Tom
