hard to disagree with you about the point you made but you have seen nothing yet devs are making a new brilliant patch (2.12.28.0) thats gonna make pvp almost to expensive even for vet players....i wouldnt go so far as your suggestion for solution cause its interesting that losing hurts so much thats what i like about pvp in this game if you just respawn and rdy to go again without losing anything whats the point?
but it should be affordable enough for new players without making them fleet one week for something they gonna lose in one day.

btw suggestion to new players find a vet player that is willing to spear some of his time to tell you how you should fit, spec what should you try to do and what should you avoid doing you still gonna lose until you start doing this things right but at least you gonna understand better what are you doing wrong and what should you do instead

also do a lot of SKIRMS they are almost cost free only thing you need to use is powders (hope you are using them)

Let me start this post by saying:

PVP IS SUPPOSED TO BE HARD

New players need to find a vet that is willing to help them out and show them the ropes. You should not expect to win your first fight, or your first 10 fights, or more than 10 of your first 50 fights.

For this reason, you should not go get the most expensive ship that you can afford. There is no reason to have a centurion or a wendon if you have no clue how to sail a cap mc.

Instant gratification is for WoW players, PotBS is for people that don't mind working for what they have.

I'm pretty sure alexkidd62 was just making a point that it is the cost that hurts more than the loss squeegee15,

Yes pvp sounds hard but tbh it is very easy, i don't care what any vet says! they just want you to think that!.

It is all about reading the skillz for combat, planing the patches beit sails heal @ 70% / Hull same, but be carefull alot of players will try trick you to patch hull or sail then go the oppisite so never ever freak out & hit all patches: drag it out, speed up if need be to get out of arks while you patch.

You must always have extra mast braces, hull patches, tyrants low lvl or admirals lvl 50 to suit your lvl...This is the part that counts most, always keeping your best wind, worst thing you can do in pvp is give up your wind.

Good luck alexkidd62

Hope this helps

Ducky

Edit: Another important part is your ship out fittings & general fitings, but im to sleepy to go into it now, maybe someone else could help.

Bye.

I think pvp is easier now than it was 3/4 years ago, just my opinion though...

I disagree, pvp isn't supposed to be hard, it's supposed to be fun. Currently, it isn't...

PvP is supposed to take skill, skill that is trained from sinking and learning from your mistakes. PvP becomes fun when you are sucessful (and can actually find a fight). If you don't want to put the effort in to get good then you never will be because of this games learning curve inregaurds to pvp... and that just the way I prefer it. If you want instant gratification from pvp go play CoD or some other mindless fps. PotBS pvp is about strategy, decision making, preperation, and skill. Not easy things to master.

If you want to become good at pvp without losing ship after ship, skirm your friends. When you have no problems beating them skirm some of the top pvper's in your nation (most will agree for a skirm) and after the fight ask what you can do better. The vets will help you get the hang of things, you just have to ask! In the end however nothing will teach you to learn from your mistakes like actually going out and sinking in the red. And FFS pvp in frigates (before 4ths etc...) until you are succesful in that as they are much more forgiving and generally cheaper.

Well, you can try to explain me how to become good at pvp, but you are wasting your time, i was already good at pvp during beta. Then what?

Several months after launch, and several patches, i had to relearn the whole avcom part, that i had already mastered, only to realize that it wasn't dependent on my skill as a player anymore. Half the fun gone...

Then, it became almost impossible to avoid rageboarding, thus killing the part i was good at, shipcom tactics, by replacing it with avcom, the worst part of pvp. Second half of the fun gone...

Today, i was on my second account with my lvl 31 cutthroat, got attacked by a lvl 50 priv in one of those invisible red zones. The game decided it was a fair one on one and locked the battle.... Fair, lvl 31 in a lvl 25 ship, against a lvl 50 in a lvl 50 refit? Yeah sure... I still almost got him, because he insisted on trying to board me (why, i wonder, i was totally outgunned), before he finally decided it would be easier and less risky to just sink me. Was it fun to battle this lvl 50 with my lvl 31? not really, it was boring as hell.

And then come the best part, after you are sunk, it's going all around the caribbeans to find new outfittings for your ship. Complete waste of time and money. So i did... Of course, as a pirate, couldn't totally avoid these invisible red zones as the only ports where to find outfittings where in the red... Game crashed, i relog, only to find out another lvl 50 naval officer wanted to duel me... You know what? i didn't even tried to fight this time. and it was taking so long that i finally left the game in the middle of the battle.

I want to thank this player for not sinking me while i was disconnected, when i returned, he just had left the battle. Was it fun for me? Of course not. Was it fun for him? I have great doubts...

So please, explain me again... Where's the fun in current pvp?

I agree with you avcom pvp is not fun in my eyes either it is a good battle ruined. You were unlucky to be victim of an apparent bug and a less than moral player.

The 2nd guy did you a favour he stopped you from being hit.

2 choices with pvp, get to 50 quick then pvp or pvp as you level. I tried the 2nd and had good fun it did however help that I had a patient econ guy willing to build for me pretty much everything.

I never understand why players don't take advantage of the skirm system more especially if you're in a society, practice together.

Hopefully next patch avcom is a harder option to force.
