Since I'm not a native english speaking guy, there might be some issues following me.

So finally I went for Florentine in Avcom and tried out some different mods/tactics etc.

I noticed, that having a bas Dodge Value of 100 with mods, but no buffs, that with Lightfooted,Untouchable,Stance Defense I max out at 137 Dodge.

When I hit 137 Dodge and additionally hit Fluid Defense for another 50% nothing happens, Dodge is still at 137.

So I figured out with some help, that all values are calculated on my base value without having a fighting school at all. So my base value is : 43 Dodge. Then we calculated all buffs in and it made perfect sense. Until I reached a point of confusion.

Light Footed(30% Dodge) + Untouchable(20% Dodge) + Stance Defense (5% Dodge) = 55% Dodge.

Florentine Avcom School: +10 Dodge

So, with 43 Dodge + 10 Dodge + 55% Dodge from Skills = 77 Dodge, that's correct.

What happens next is: Light Footed Footed (6 Sec. 60% Dodge)

So, with 43 Dodge + 10 Dodge + 85!% Dodge from Skills = 90 Dodge, that's correct.

But what happens now? I hit Fluid Defense for 50% Dodge:

So, with 43 Dodge + 10 Dodge + 105!% Dodge from Skills = 85 Dodge, that's implausable.

Why does Light Footed with 85% Dodge result in 90% Dodge, calculated from the base Value and why does Fluid Defense with 105% Dodge result in only 85% Dodge, calculated from the base Value?
<SOD. < Ping

Im glad i could help you

I have the same Ping as most like other players. 120-170ms, what I have massively is rubberbanding. But this still doesn't solve the issue why I have higher dodge with less effective buffs.

I picked a bad week to go away evidently.

Yes there is a hard cap to the bonuses you can receive from buffs. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but if you pop fluid defense as a florentine (or perfect parry as a fencer) you are effectively getting no bonus from your normal defensive buff while it is active. Even a dirty fighter comes pretty close to capping out their bonuses with perfect dodge. It's done that way so defense builds can't completely dominate, but right now they're already fairly close to it.

Every school is viable, but you do have to be good (or willing to be extremely cheap) to do well as a brawler. SoD and Defensive DF are a good choice for beginners because they are fairly tough and do well even when the RNG doesn't particularly favor you, but they lack options and have low defense.

While ping is definitely an issue, it's one you can teach yourself to look for. Not hitting someone? Try and aim a little farther ahead than where you currently are. I basically take it for granted that the game is lying to me about my opponent's position and try and place myself ahead of where they are and to attack earlier than I normally would if they are running at me.
