do you think their going to put in a frigate with armor of a 4th rate? did you even read test sever and see what their doing to frigates?

Cut the guy some slack, these are nice models and suggested stats are just that, would be up to FLS to balance them if the ships were put into game.

I do have some comments though. These two individual ships may be hard to get FLS approval for, Black Pearl being as mentioned the property of Disney and also a fictional design not closely based on any real ship or type of ship, and Providence is a modern style of frigate that is out of the time period that FLS has been using for ship designs.

Also, it might be an idea to look at the shipbuilders guide (bottom of linked page), for examples of PotBS ship models and how texturing etc is done for this game.

Those are just comments, by all means submit them to FLS, I would love to see them in game.

Yeah, the replica of HMS Surprise was used for the film, which in turn was the replica of HMS Rose(1757). That date being the problem, FLS has been using 1740 as the cut-off for ships.

The other problem being the conversion of Rose to Surprise was mostly to give her an even later appearance.

Well the defiant was based off a 1794 ship so I think they can cut it some slack.

If the op is going for a realistic look on the ship there are a couple of changes that need to be made, first the deck needs to be made flush. Second, the 3 cannons in the center need to be either moved backwards to the quarter-deck or onto the fore-castle. Finally where those 3 cannons are should be made to resemble either the defiant(big gaping hole) or the raa(said hole being covered by grating).

Yes, there's a certain amount of leeway, not up to me to approve ships (if it was up to me this one would get approved in an instant, love the look of Napoleonic era frigates )

Btw, Defiant is the HMS Unicorn(1748), which was built to the design of a captured french privateer, which as far as I can find makes it a design from about 1745.
