Default Feed back on 1.1.54.0

Testbed is live with 1.1.54.0. Let us know if you see any reason we shouldn't push this build to the live clusters. Release Notes are here.

If a Port Contention battle was supposed to be fought while the mission server was down (or if the mission server crashed during the battle), the port and its contention would end up in a wonky state. Fixed most of that. If a battle is supposed to occur when the server is down, it gets rescheduled for 24 hours later.
Why shove it off 24 hours? If for some reason the battle timer end up getting set for the battle to take place during the maintenance window, it could keep getting put off for another 24 hours every time it come up. Thus the battle would never take place.

Also, since most of the down times, except for major patches are generally 2 hours or less. How about making this a 3 hour shift?

Better still, change the timers to be actual count down timers instead of the battles getting flagged for a specific date/time. Then have the timer freeze when the severs are down. Or even save the state of the timer every half hour. Then if the server crashes it'd restore to the last save state when the server comes back up. Thus if there's 15 minutes left at the time of the crash and the last save point was 25 minutes left. Then when the servers comes up we have 25 minutes until the battle.

I'm sure folks wouldn't mind waiting around an extra 30 minutes in the cases where the server crashes and comes right back up. After all that's a LOT better than having to wait another day. Especially now that the battles are scheduled on a 48 hour countdown.

Appears as if they still are Monthar.

You know, I just don't get it.
When someone finds a simple problem like this and yet, another quick fix patch goes in, it looks like the error was just ignored.

Just want to clarify something regarding these funky new nVidia drivers: How funky are they? Obviously, nVidia hasn't seen fit to make these available through their site as WHQL or even as Beta drivers.

How significantly have these been changed, were they changed directly through nVidia, and will I experience any performance difference (positive or negative) in other recent games like Call of Duty 4, Hellgate: London, Bioshock, et al.?

Windows XP SP2 with 8800GT 512MB card.

I guess it's intentional for specifically the test server. But you can create characters of all nations on there. (Just saying so to make sure it isn't ending up wrong)

Qitro, some folks found the game unplayable w/o those drivers and can play very happily now. If you're having problems, give 'em a shot. If not, don't stress on 'em. I'm not sure what all NVIDIA changed in the driver but apparently the changes can have unintended effects on older cards. That would probaby be one reason NVIDIA hasn't released them yet - they're still testing them. If you try 'em and you don't like 'em, rollback.

Arm, I do believe the ability to have characters of varying nations on Testbed is intended.

Keline, I'm not sure. I'll see what I can find out.

I forgot Monthar, sorry. We talked about all of those possibilities. Changing the code to a timer is scary, I think. The theory of the decision, I think, is that the folks who flipped the port are most likely to be on at roughly the same time of day but they may not be on 3 hours later. I know if I play at 8p regularly and you moved the battle to 11p and I had to work the next day, I'd be a little pissy. Especially at work the next day. It's true, though, that if I can make it Saturday night, I might not be able to make it Sunday night or whatever. The best answer, of course, is that we don't have the servers down when a battle's supposed to happen. In a perfect world...

Has there been any thought given to changing the Final Battle scheduling to have it start 45 hours after hitting 10K? See, the logic behind having it be near the same time is solid, but basically, it takes a couple of hours for those people to make the final push over the 10K.

Let's say a group's prime-time is 7-10 PM. If they're out building contention from 7-10 PM, then wouldn't it make sense to start the battle at 7 the next day? As opposed to 10 PM, when they're just about ready to call it a night?

This would also make it so that nations with staggeringly high population have a harder time exploiting really late night battles. Want a battle to start at 3 AM so that smaller nations can't defend themselves? Fine, stay up til 6 AM to do it. Having the system force players to building contention at a time slot much earlier than when they are able to actually show up to fight really disadvantages small populations, like French and Spanish nations on small servers where it's often up to a single guild to carry the entire nation's World PVP game.
