We talked to SOE's salespeople this morning. They just got the reorder request from Best Buy and say that Best Buy should have the preorder back in stock by the middle of next week, which would be roughly January 15th-17th, and would then resume shipping the boxes. That's not going to help much for preboarding, but that preorder box will include the Landing Party key which you can use after launch to get the parrot and sword items.

Thank you Rev for looking into it. Sounds like someone ove at Best buy didn't think this would sell as well as it has. Sad that I'll have to wait that long, but at the same time, the pre-orders selling out is a good sign for the future of the Spanish Main.

By next week I'll need a hook from the terminal nail biting waiting for word from Best Buy.

I hate to sound jaded (but when it comes to Best Buy I am for many reason) but go buy it someplace else if you can. I regularly see Best Buy not get new releases until like 2 weeks after the release date. It's almost as if they want to give all the other stores a chance to sell them before they bother putting them out on the shelves.

(And their employees are often clueless...)
(And their shelves are quite often a mess...)
(And I work for a company that deals with them and they constantly screw things up...)
(And none of these complaints and limited to a specific store... all the ones in my area are like that...)

That's a bit biased...but unfortunately for BestBuy, I agree with you

All the CompUSA's are dissapearing in my area and it really ticks me off. Their stuff ran like $3 more or so on average, but the store was organized and their employees mostly knew their stuff. Unfortunately I suspect a lot of people just didn't respect the service they were getting and just wanted the cheaper price.

I don't suppose there is any way for us Best Buy pre-orders to get a temp key getting us into pre-board? Perhaps if we supply our store confirmation code? Just a thought :P Im really getting anxious to play

I like the idea, Victor. However I'm not sure how SOE would confirm with the vendor (Best Buy) that the orders have been placed.

As for anxious... I've chewed the nails on my left hand so far, I'll need a hook to replace the hand by release.

I couldn't wait anymore. I called up my nearest Gamestop. They had several pre-board boxes left. So I went and picked one up, and called best buy to cancel my order with them. It was $3 cheaper at Gamestop too

Not to mention, through GameStop your preorder can be paid in full and all you have to do is show up on release .
