Default When is the memory leak going to be fixed?

As it is, I crash every 3 or 4 hours of consecutive gameplay. Can almost set a clock to it, its that frequent.

Also what about the bug, when you are zoning out of a port, and all you have is water and the sky? No land, ships, builds, nothing...

Can you open a support ticket and include logs, dxdiag, and attach a crash dump? Details on how to turn on crash dump logging are here:
http://www.burningsea.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9456

Post the support incident number here and we'll look at it.

I get memory leak problems on the OS too, especially when running two clients at once. However, I don't crash. I think vista just dumps the memory (it drops to almost nothing for a while and freezes the screen) and reloads a significant portion of it or something, but it starts happening quicker and quicker the longer I play on the OS, usually starting on the 4-5 hours mark as well. This can take upward of 5-6 minutes of loading (running 2 clients, 2-3 if I just run one) after every OS fight upon rezoning to the OS after the game has been running for 8+ hours. Missions and such are fine. Is there anything I can provide besides this statement and a support ticket with dxdiag information?

Just checked this post back, after 4 crashes so far tonight =P

Turned crash dump logging on, so next time I crash I'll reply with the ticket #.

As I stated, I never crash, just have extreme 3-6 minute (I usually restart by then as I start to get in fights and not able to fight back) loading times. Is there any valuable information I can provide short of crash dumps?

Sorry I was hung up on the OPs crashes. You should post a dxdiag. There are not many rigs I know of that can run two clients on the same machine and not have poor performance. The client is, by design, going to hog up a lot of memory and at other times release memory that is no longer needed. The 5-6 minute loading times are a bit high. For this you can turn on detail logging for rooms by creating pirates_local.ini in you client folder and adding:

[Logger]
room=detail

After you have some logs saved where zoning takes a long time you should remove the room=detail option as it will create very large log files over time.

For the first 3 hours it is as quick as running 1 client, then it slows up little by little until it somewhat suddenly starts taking up to 5-6 minutes(doing both zonings at once so I can keep my ships together for fighting) after 8-9 hours of OS play, every time. I can leave a combat, and when it finishes reloading, npcs have already jumped me and begun to fire. Keep in mind they don't move during the invulnerability when entering combat, so at a very minimum it is 2.5 minutes. I turned everything graphical except water (it's too pretty) to minimum to alleviate this some, but I would still like all my shinies back (and the ability to see cannonballs, lowest settings doesn't seem to display them) if/when this is fixed. If I turn everything back up to middle or medium high, I can probably run into it quicker. Also, it is ONLY zoning into the OS that is an issue. Everything else is smoothe.

The client, if it is releasing memory, releases it at odd times. Usually the freezeups start after 5-10 seconds and about 5-6 frames after the loading screen, and ONLY on the OS. Sometimes it is a little after I start moving. It also seems to do this briefly (5-10 seconds) around wind changes, but I think that is a separate non-memory leak issue that is just exacerbated by the memory leak. It also freezes everything else. If I have a music program in the background, it starts looping the buffer, and I can't select anything. Same with vent Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't even work until it finishes reloading either. Same for alt-tab. Mouse pointer still moves though.

Another note, which I will also include in the ticket when I can get a log of this if you want, is that I had a similar problem with Hellgate:London having a memory leak. It would slowly creep up to a certain point, the game would freeze, the memory would dump to almost nothing fairly randomly (I watched task manager) and would then proceed to reload a gigabyte of stuff. Everyone else had bad continual stuttering frame problems or crashes on XP, so this may be a Vista feature of some sort.

Anyway, I'll get right on this when I play next, though I may not be able to provide the log where it gets to the 5-6 minutes times until later in the week/this weekend since I work on weekdays. Will running 2 clients on one machine cause any issue with logging I should be aware of to keep them straightened out? I may need to submit several if I can't get it in one play session after a restart because it seems to persist to some extent unless I restart the computer.

If you have any specific settings you would like me to run through, I am open to doing it, being already near minimum and all.

Just to be sure this is clear, I can't just logout, add the entry, log back in and have it take 5-6 minutes to load. It takes hours for it to start. If I can change the logging entry midplay and have it take effect, that would be nice, but I am assuming it doesn't work that way. I am not against megasized log files though if you want it.

Not sure if this is related but I'm running XP Pro and about 3+ hours out, performance (Slow camera rotation, rubberbanding of charater, longer delays in loading sprites, longer load screens, and lengthy delay in getting control of avatar or ship) starts to drop and if I plan on doing any pvp I restart the client and everything is smooth again. I've never played until a crash because it's just not fun or worth the risk to play with poor performance. Memory dump command would be nice =)
