Game will not load

Hey i was in a OS battle near bartica and my rudder got stuck so i was going around in circles, i could change my sails but not my direction. The NPC seemed to be doing nothing and i could do nothing else but go into the menu screen and change sail. I quit the game and now its constantly getting stuck on the SOE scanning for updates part...

It's been stuck like this now for almost an hour.
