Would it not be nice to have a plotted trading route that you ship auto-sails for you on the open sea. Freeing up time for you to check your ships hold, balance the books, and train the crew.
I would like to suggest the ability to plot out a trading route by sailing it on the seas. Escentially, it would just be a recording of locations of check points which while being follow will auto-turn your ship to the next one, till your reach the last which will auto-port you. These route that you create does not change if the wind changes or if there happens to be a pvp zone. So if you don't pay attention to your plotted route, you may be jumped pirate filthy pirates, or the evil spanish. Of course you would have a limit to how many plotted routes you can store. Perhaps these route may also be traded and sold. |

I would just settle for a "sail to this port" button that locks your heading, and maybe has rudimentary obstacle avoidance for islands. Waypoints wouldn't be a bad idea either. I don't know that pre-plotted paths would be useful given how much wind and PvP areas change.

There is a sail to port option. It consists of pointing your ship towards the port you want to go too, and raising your sails up.
Man, I'm sounding like a jack-*** aren't I? |

Given the way the camera works and how laggy the turning is, it's really hard to set an accurate course from more than about a hundred miles away. It's not like it's a critical need, it would just make things a little less annoying. I usually tab over to another client instance, or to my web browser while on the OS, so a tiny course problem can be a big one by the time I come back. |

I run my game in a window, so usually on the OS when travelling, I just put a small web window over it and do whatever on the internet, still being able to see the minimap. Been a few times when my 4th rate almost wandered into a red circle an I ha to change course real fast.
