.....
THERE IS NO DOWNTIME PROBLEM This is the same thing that happened on Jan 6/7 The game was shut down for retail launch, to make sure they crossed the Ts and dotted the Is....got all their ducks in a row.... SOE Processed all accounts. Any that were solely flagged as Pre-Boarding (IE everyone) now has no subscription to the game until 9am when Retail keys are added. Since this forum is linked to an SOE Account...and SOE has the subs expired until 9am PST....The forum reacts as tho you don't have an active PotBS Sub. Which is true. Therefore after 9am when keys can be added, you should regain your posting ability. If not...Then start worrying.

Weehee...i didn't even realize non-subscriber can post on this forum...i can speak again!
It is a bit unfortunate that shipwrights need to subscribe before being able to submit any updates. Considering the fact that to have a properly modeled ship that can be approved by the steering committee would require many hours of labor, I found it odd that fans whom are enthusiastic enough to provide free work to this game, but not necessarily play the game because of whatever reason, are still required to pay in order to work for the game as volunteers. I pretty much spent most of my CB time modelling and still couldnt make it in time, got too busy at RL work then found out i cannot post on the forum anymore because i dont have a subscription. (Potbs wont arrive until late February here so it appears). Bit tragic imo. Perhaps in future, the custom content section would be more flexible and remain there to allow enthusiasts whom are not subscribed to submit their creations. Same with this forum, I believe the moderators can easily prune out all the non-shipwright threads with minimal effort. Same with many modding/custom content community - 3D modeling is a specialized profession and those whom are capable probably would have a hard time juggling between creating work and actually playing the game. All they need are design specs. Artists who created beautiful custom models for the community are not usually the players themselves - You don't need have a cool ship in game to be a good modeler, but you certainly need a good modeler to build a cool ship. On the lighter side, $15/month is a very competitive price as modeler salary compare to all the outsourcin' sweatshoppin' slave pens in the who-knows-where-fourth-world-countries :P Hope this can go into consideration, but otherwise no hard feelings really. |
