Problems I noticed...
-Repeatedly being shown the same designs again and again. -Designs I flagged as copyright are shown again to me, not a huge deal. -I question that the saturation filter is working correctly. I saw few designs with what appeared to be pure colors. -There should be a transparency filter (If the decal covers greater than 50% of the sail it must be 70% or less opacity). Full sail replacements are getting through. -Spam voting is easy. -And the biggest problem I think is, there is no way to leave feedback. Maybe I'm too used to the old system and I realize the forums are a better place to receive feedback, but I think it would be nice if there was a checklist of common flag/sail errors to pick from and the voter had the option to click one. Then if the design gets sent back, the maker could see those stats so they could identify which problem areas they need to focus their attention on. Example: If a rejected design had 90% of the voters that rejected it checking the "aliasing" box then the maker would know where to concentrate their work on their next revision. Edit: How many credits does it take per submission anyway? |

I have earned 30 credits so far, the hard way, by the rules, and it has taken about 1 1/2 hours. I have seen many of the same designs....If that is yalls plan, to give me so many to reveiw and someone else a few more, then it is working. I cant believe its random cause Im seeing to many of the same designs...most are junk...last i remember looking at All Content there was some cool stuff....im not seeing it now.

While reading Forums, Avoiding NPCs and in general multitasking - I go back to wack Vote for this one to find my session timed-out.
Itself is not a bad thing I suppose, but I do wonder how long between F5 Refresh's do I have until I get kicked over to SOE Login again? --- So okay - I spend ~ 1/2 hour flipping through flags & Sail decals - just as many bad ones which I merely F5 refreshed past. I was suprised to see my flag appear and of course I voted for it. The "tool" is cute for about 5 mins, but gets tiresome quickly based on how limited it is now to either vote or ignore. I agree with others - seeing the same content again and again doesn't help my desire unless totally lagged out and have nothing better to do until the Loading Screen puts me in the OS. The Are you Sure for reporting is a bit intimidating so I decided not to use it for garbage reporting. Monday Update: Tool Nerfs and new Tags Well F5 doesn't refresh anymore so two bad images, one voted on, next two bad images, one voted on, next two images include the bad ones I disliked. /Sigh The novelity of using the UC /UC tags worked in the forum image, but once clicked upon launched the UC page which I was not logged in nor permited to view. Appears to be more a major step backwards rather than forwards for my input.

What are credits and what do they do for you and how many do you need?

In regards to everything else... I admit, I don't have much to say that hasn't already been said. The point that I'm really missing is the ability to leave comments/feedback. I do agree that the forums are a better place for this, however... most people simply aren't going to come to the forums. Like others have said, I do feel like I've been seeing the same flags over and over. I'm also concerned that a lot of people are just going to randomly click on things as fast as they can to get the credits that they need rather than actually looking at the designs and giving honest votes. ... and this is just a random idea I had. But, I think it would be really nice if we could get e-mail notification when our content is approved.

Thanks for the reply, FLS has been uncharacteristically silent about this whole thing for months, so having some actual discussion is a welcome change.
I'm still not close to being sold on needing user interaction in this process at all. 90% of rejections should be clicking some check boxes for the rules that weren't followed, and an autogenerated email, with a comments box for the other 10%. Approvals should be a one click operation. I just don't see how adding in all the complication of user voting makes it any easier. If you insist on keeping the voting around, you really have to put in a way for us to flag things that blatantly break a rule. It's far too frustrating to have two full sail replacements done in paint up there and pretend one is better. It makes me not want to do it at all. If you are using us to weed bad submissions out, then at least let us actually help. |

I just ran into one possible issue...
I submitted a sail design and then immediately withdrew it because I mistyped the name. When I attempted to submit it again, the system would not allow it because it was identical to another sail in the system (the one I just withdrew). I understand that this is here to help prevent submission of stolen flag/sail designs... and I wholeheartedly applaud this step. However, it would be nice if there were some method for us to "purge" our own work out of the system or a means for the system to recognize that while there is an identical item in the system, it belongs to the same person trying to submit it again.

Hey guys, lovely new system.
There is a counter on the submission page telling you how many credits you have, and how many more things you need to vote on to earn another credit. The second half of that counter is not working properly, because it says I need four more votes to earn another credit, and then when I go to vote, not only is the progress bar almost empty (indicating I need way more than four), but when I vote on one thing and go back to the submission page, it now says I need five. Any ideas?

More comments...
With this system it doesn't appear there will be a way to review all the submitted designs anymore. I see two main problems with this. First, it was a great resource for new designers to be able to review approved designs and see numerous examples of what would be considered appropriate. Second, I think this new format will make it hard to keep track of submissions. If someone steals someone else's design and submits it there is no way for me to say, "Hey, the flag linked here __________ submitted by _______ is a copy of my flag linked here ________." How do we fill in those blanks? Also, along the same lines, there will be no way to submit appeals without the ability to link to a design. Additionally, with the anonimity of the current system there is no way for anyone realize that a design has been stolen. How do we spot theft? |
