CHARCREATE_ERR_Generic (NEED HELP)

Everytime I hit play after creating an avatar, i get this message and I have no idea what it means. Im assuming this is accidentally the code for duplicate name and im seeing the code rather then a phrase or descriptive text.

Am i right? Does this have to do with appearance, name? or is it just some bug?


If it is name thing, how does dup naming work? is it first and last together, only first? or First and last both have to be unique?

I've had this on occasion and its frustrating because once it happens, it seems you're stuck. Particularly after spending more than a few minutes working on your avatar.

I thought it was a name problem, but after trial and error, it seems not. There used to be a bug in beta, don't know if it was fixed, but some random clothing combinations (i.e. use the random appearance button) would cause the error apparently because of incompatible clothing types or some such. Switching all clothing items doesn't seem to help after it occurs.

If I get this error, I quit the game, relaunch, pick gender, class and name of my avatar and immediately go in to the game without changing any appearance features. Just go with what the game initially gives you.

Play the first mission as is, then go to the tailor in your starter town and change your appearance as desired.

Deniticus' advice is spot on. This is an issue we're aware of and there should be a fix in an upcomming patch.

Two questions

1) Where is the tailor in Jenny Bay

2) My cat sat on my keyboard and my interface dissappeared, how do i get it back?

1. The tailor in JB is in the back of the shop through the door

2. Not sure the keystroke, but you can press ESC and bring up the Keybindings to see what it is, or go into preferences, interface, and manually turn it back on.

When i hit escape i see nothing, i typed /logout but the screen is blank there too.
Im going to try hard quitting.

As for the tailor being in the back of the shop.... sorry if this is a noob question but "What shop?".

F11 is the default key binding to toggle the UI on and off.

The Shop is where the auction house is, civilian deed trader and all. You should have a newbie quest at some point to visit The Shop. You can also hit "L" to bring up the local map. Clicky around on the icons and you'll find it.

also, it's only in the starter towns, Marsh Harbor for pirates.
