Default Vertical and Horizontal toolbars

In the key bindings options I see a set of items call the horizontal toolbar and the vertical toolbar which involve pressing ctrl+number and shift+number. I'm guessing these work the same way as the standard toolbar where I press a number to activate a skill/item or whatever but I can't seem to figure out how to tie a particular item to a horizontal or vertical toolbar slot. Any suggestions?

Also I've seen reference to a "wind indicator" in the forums. Does this just mean the wind direction indicator on the compass/mini-map or does it mean something else?

Thanks in advance

Browse around the UI options. There are a lot of things you can turn on/off and set.

The Wind Indicator is usualy refered to the circle around your ship that is green, yellow, and red. This lets you know how your ship performs when heading that direction with the current wind.

when you go to the options under ui controls, you can select the button you wish to reprogram, and it will ask you to hit the button to assign to this hotbox (it will deassign that button if it was used elsewhere).

hope this helps.

There are 3 toolbars. The first one is the default one that you start with. The other two have to be turned on in the UI options menu. You can turn on either the Horizontal or Vertical position for each toolbar. Once turned on you can assign skills and items to these toolbars. Once items are assigned you can use the CTRL and SHIFT keys to HOTKEY these other two toolbars.

It sounds to me as if you are trying to use HOTKEYS for unactivated and unassigned toolbar positions. If I have misunderstood your question, my appologies.

Can I move the toolbars? How?

A second toolbar would be great, but when I activated it I got it in a very unhelpful place. If I could move it to a more convenient place I would definately use at least a second one at the moment and maybe a third when I have more skills and items I want to have quick accesss to.

Yes, you can move toolbars, and rearrange the placement of everything. It is an option in the options menu.

It is the very first option checkbox in the UI options menu.

Now you can drag and drop all your popup winds, and resize them.

Ta, I have found the default UI placement good for most things, but I can see myself spending some time fine tuning it when I get home tonight.
