The Treason Pirate Flagship
When the 1.6 Ship Preview was released this ship made me drool, especially since I was in the process of leveling up a Buccaneer at the time. Finally, the Pirate nation gets a full blown Ship of the Line in the new Treason Pirate Flagship. This is a Buccaneer Refit SoL based around the Wenden Third Rate Ship of the Line. Requiring a Wenden Uncertified deed, this is a significant investment but it boasts some firepower improvements over the traditional Wenden Third Rate. It is however limited very specifically to the Buccaneer class. The improvements come in the way of more cannons over its cousin, boasting 28 cannons per deck instead of the 24 the Wenden has. It also has more armor. The Structure is increased to 3080, the Port and Starboard sides now have 2024, the Bow has 1012 and the Stern has 506. DR is still the same as on the Wenden, 14 for the broadsides and 4 for the Bow and Stern. This however does not come without a cost as the Treason is .50 slower than the Wenden. All other characteristics are the same between both ships.

The Treason - A True Flagship for a Pirate Nation
With the release of 1.4, I fell in love with the Buccaneer class. It isn’t as powerful as other classes but I’ve always been an MMO player that loves utility. My first character in Everquest was an Enchanter. The Buccaneer has utility all over the place. However, as I was leveling I noticed a very distinct lack of ships that the Buccaneer had access to, especially as we have to rely entirely upon the Scavenge skill, the Careening Camp or through non-class specific ship deeds. This leaves us without a whole lot to make us feel…unique on the ocean. Enter the Treason Pirate Flagship. A Wenden Third Rate Refit? My first reaction was, “National Players are going to complain about this.” But as I thought about it more and more, I saw why this was a good addition. It is only a third rate ship, leaving Naval Officers with the only ones able to sail the Second and First Rate ships outside of Cutthroats Taking Command of Derelicts. And those are single durability versions. Prior to the Treason, a Buccaneer could never hope to sail one of the top ships. Would you want to risk a 4% chance Scavenge skill and potentially end up wasting a derelict SoL or Couronne? Take Command is the only really valid option for this. What about the Bahamut? It is a Huge classified ship. It doesn’t have the same kind of power that the Colossals have, but it functions just like them. I very much like the Bahamut but after having used it for a while on Testbed, it’s left something to be desired. The Treason brings some potentially solid firepower to the Buccaneer class. I’m excited about this ship and can’t wait to get in one.

Okay, I'm a Naval Officer, and I'm excited about the 'Treason' Pirate Flagship.
This ship is going to change Pirate Port Battles in ways no other previous step ever has. We're talking about a ship of the line with 3 durability that the Buccaneer can sail. This is astounding. Before everyone goes up in arms, let's look at this more closely. The Treason is a refit of a wenden. In order for Buccaneer to sail one, he/she has to acquire an uncertified Wenden deed. We're talking about major production to build this ship. Then he/she has to acquire the refit. Then, and only then can he/she get their hands on this amazing ship. Why am I excited, as an NO? I love line battles. I love Port Battles. I love a challenge. The Treason presents a new challenge. This ship, coupled with pirate skills, means new pirate tactics for port battles. It gives the buccaneer class something to look forward to. These are things that make the game more fun and contribute to the overall balance and health. What makes the Treason different from the Wenden? Well, it's got 97 guns if you count the swivels, for one (total broadside weight of 301lbs). It's got an increase to over 3000 structure, with boosts to each armor facing. It's got a .5 nerf to speed. It's basically a Pirate 2nd rate, with the luxury of a 3rd rate's turning and such. I envy you Buccaneers. Enjoy this sweet ship!

The very name of this ship evokes controversy, Treason the act of betraying one's homeland for self benefit. With the introduction of a Ship of the Line for the Pirate Nation, I feel confident in calling them a Nation now after all it takes a Nation to build them; will come great debates over the inclusion of this ship. I for one applaud its introduction. Why if I am not a Pirate, Why if I love historical accuracy? One reason and one reason alone, Pirates needed a sink into their economy they needed some grand project to build and this fits the bill. Maybe some of you will call me a Traitor for wanting this monster in the game. Call me a Traitor when I sink one of these and make Pirates feel economic pain like we do for once.
What about it will make the Nationals quake in their boots and shudder at the very mention of its name? Ships of the Line have been the Holy Grail of Naval Officers but now something unholy will be able to challenge the Ship Of the Line dominance. The Treason has more armor, more guns, more, than a Wenden! For those greedy Pirates more is always better! Now are the dark times for Nationals with Cutthroats sailing Pirate Hercules with Treasons for back up the Pirate menace is sweeping across the Burning Sea like a swarm of Locust descending and devouring every thing in their way. Now will be the time for the Nationals to put aside their petty differences and stand up to the intolerable foe that is Treason!

its still gona be one of those cheep ships you get for nothing while nats have to grind thier **** of just too pump out ships that might be equal in the right setup wich rearly happen.
its stupid the amount of time that nats have to put down to make ships and the amount that the pirates have to spend is less then 1/10. they can only go out and capture a ship. while the nats have to go and build it using all the elements from the Economy wich takes atlest 5 people. and even then it will take along time.

Its good to see, that pirates finally get their own SOL, but why should only those of us who had the time to level a second char (a buc additional to the forced cut we all got in 1.4) can get their hand on this ship?
And to the ship stats: can we get the stats of the national SOLs in 1.6? Based on the current stats this ship will be way superior even to the 2nd Rates?! Better accel, better turning, better defense, health right between trinity / triumphant and up to 475y even more dps than the trinity 2nd Rate by the price of an 3rd Rate? Based upon the 1.5 2nd Rate stats this sounds like a way overpowered monster of a ship. |

As a refit, it requires the deed from the base ship + MoVs to create.
